ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I was thinking about buying a sub and an amp

I insist on getting Pioneer as that's what my speakers + radio are although my stepfather tell me it should be about quality, not the brand name. Does it matter if I go with Pioneer and not something more high class? Will it give better results?

How much are you looking to spend? What kind of music do you listen to? Are you wanting sound quality or just loud ass bass? Pioneer isn't a bad brand. Personally I like other brands better but I have used their subs before with good results. More info would help though.

I'm looking to spend about $1,000.
I listen to mostly Hip-Hop and RnB, so the music has to be loud.
I'm wanting both sound quality and bass. So in the middle. I mean, I don't want it sounding like crap, but I also don't want it to just sound like a blare when I drive down the street or stop. If you know what I mean? :o

Id go with pioneer, make sue you do your research as i did, i chose pioneer for its equalizer options and its Mode that most people dont hear about much, one of my night instructers told me how to get access to it. I love it. I just got a pioneer fh-p8000bt from direct buy which is a organization that you have to join, i got it for about 238, way cheaper than retail but your proably not gonna join db for its steep member ship price, and its more of a home refernishing store. But its all on what you are looking for and how much you are willing to pay, never settle on one store to buy from , shop around , youl be surprised on what youl find.

              Wow! Thanks! Sounds very inspiring!
All I had in mind was going down to the like auto shop and choosing an amp and a sub there. >.< I guess you're right about the shopping around part. Maybe going onto Pioneer's website to find a specific sub and amp would be a good idea? But how will I know how well they perform? :s And if they're right for me?

If you're dead set on Pioneer then I would look into their Champion Pro series and an amp to match one of those subs.

                http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...ion%3Doverview

That was just a quick search so maybe you can find something else but you should get the idea. I'd personally go with JL Audio or one of Alphasonik's subs for the amount of money you're looking at spending. Either way if you take your time and research all of your options and read reviews i'm sure you'll make the right decision. Just don't ruch into anything.

Ooo! Thanks man! If I were to choose an amp and a sub right now it'd definitely be the 4 channel PRS-D4200F, with the TS-W3002D2 sub.

Yeah, that's what I was told, to go for a JL Audio sub because they're much better quality. but I dunno. O.o;; I kinda think people will look at the speakers, or the stereo and then look at the sub and think, "wtf? :P Was he on drugs when he bought these? Why not get all Pioneer?"

I used to have an Eclipse head unit, kicker amp, jl amp, jl sub, boston acoustics component set, and kicker tweeters. Oh and I had lightning adudio wiring lol. But it's storming like crazy here so I have to shut this computer down before I run the risk of it getting fried.

O.O Wow! That's a lot of different brands to house in one system! O.O

Uhh, yeah, I dunno. >.< That's opened my eyes up to more possibilities. Maybe when you get back you could show me some JL subs and amps? :o

Good luck and sorry to hear about the storm! >.<

Well there is alot to factor in when buying equipment, before i bought any thing i asked people on there own systems and researched system specifications and what they ment.

I also learned from my experience with equipment. Before my cb7 was handed down to me my dad had already installed a pioneer receiver. It wasnt top of the line but it was what i had to work with. So i kept it for years. Its still working great today even tho its not in my car any more, we bought in 2001 and its running strong. My dad had also installed speakers , it replaced the factory ones and sounded way better too. Once again they werent top of the line but what i had. Im still using them today and they havent distorted at all. They cant be cranked as high as i wanted, there only rated at 150w. Id like to go higher and ad some tweeters. but thats for a future project.

One thing id like to add is work on security before putting a nice system inside. I got a viper 3002v brand new and installed only for 255, MSRP is about 350.

Currently I have a pioneer Fh -P8000bt with four pioneer 4*4 speakers and two kicker comp 12's on a mtx 250/1 mono block. Its loud enough even tho i want more, but money isnt in my wallet lol.

                        now look at this

                        I got the Fh-p8000bt for 238

I got the kickers for 100. and thats two subs
Kickers have a annual sale 2 for 1 thing, i scored on it.

The mtx terminator 250/1 i overpayed at circutecity, it cost me 178. If i knew i coulda got it else were cheaper i wouldnt of payed but i was impatient that day.

and the speakers cost a lil less that 100 for 4.

It all comes down to knowledge and the will to look around and compare prices, alot of stores will say they are the cheapest. there lieing, its retail pricing lol.

Screw what other people say, it's YOUR system. My sub is going to blank, but it's going to kick ass.
There's nothing wrong with an all-pioneer system. Can you do better for the money, of course but the pio won't be bad.

I guess you're right. I mean, it's a little hard for me because all of my friends drive their parents cars still. >.> So they don't have sound systems and I can't compare. So at the moment, I have the best sound system between 6 or 7 people.

I should do a lot more research and I guess that's my bad for not doing so.

And rofl. :P You're right. A lot of them lie. I guess this is going to be a long process for me and I just need to have some patience, look around and be careful. >.<

Thank you for your help! You were VERY helpful!

Do you have any recommendations on subs and amps by the way? :o
