ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

"350 v8!? thats big so it must be fastttt!" as you look at a 83 Cadillac SeVilleOriginally posted by loud92CB7db18 View Postyou really dont know what your talking about man not to be a dick but dont try to spread info that isnt anywhere close to the truth.
Look guys I am not trying to jack this guys thread or start any fights, but to think that I am not knowledgeable in this field is a dick move in its own. I know all about quality over quantity and what is required to build a nice quality system. All I was talking about were the decibles that each sub would produce. Both of you have to admit that there is no way that an 8 can hit as low of notes as say a 12 or a 15 and that is all I am saying. Keep in mind that when I am talking about subwoofer size I am talking about the same sub just in a different size I am not compairing low quality 12's to high quality 8's OK. Since the 8 is smaller it covers less surface area and has a faster response time to hit the next note than say a larger sub. Hence the reason they require less air space. So please don't look at my post count and consider me a noob and if you want to continue this discussion please pm me.Last edited by HOACB7; 10-12-2009, 11:04 PM.

reason why is being if u play with enclosures everything will play evenly. the 8's i ran were commonly mixed up with 12's and 15's with atleast double the power.
this isnt thread jacking its called sorting out info. you made a comment that really needed to be corrected.Members Ride sold...

The surface area of a sub has little to do with the box size it needs.
An 8 can play as low as any 12 or 15, but the output will be less considering all else remains optimal.

Marketing? Your "average" person is going to think a bigger sub with more power handling equals louder and it does to a certain extent, but they don't know what is involved in extracting all of that.
SPL...more displacement with less subs?

i think theyre all overpriced im my opinion, maybe its cus i know alot of people. Do you have any local fleet market that sells audio systems? either that or walmart sometimes have a sweet package deal, deal includes sony head unit (ipod ready, aux) with 3 1/2" door speakers (x2) and 6x9 (x2) for $99. Also sony xplod 12" sub for $65 each, 600 watt sony xplod amp(voice) for i belive it was $80 and a 1000 watt amp (base) for $125....i had traded my alpine type R 12" subs and box for the sony system and let me tell you that combo works great i had it in my last car and it was loud of course i had 5 6x9 so thats mainly why. hope it sheds some light on your decision
