ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Quick speaker question

Let me start off by saying " Yes i used the search button ". Weel yesterday i discoverd my speakers are basically blown in my car and they sound like crap. Well my brother offerd me some free 6.5 inch speakers that apperently are pretty nice. Anyways i have an EX which means i have 6x9's in the back. I was wondering if i need to get a 6.5 inch pod for the rear or if i can make the 6.5 inch speakers fit in the 6x9 inch space.

Quick sum up: Can i fit 6.5 inch speakers in a 6x9 pod

    Thanks

Do a junkyard dive for some stocker 6.5" pods. Don't half way it. Take the time to do it right the first time

I would use those 6.5's in the front. Since you have an EX, I think you have 4.5's that are installed in a speaker pod. If you choose to use the 6.5's for the front, hit the junkyards and find the speaker pods for an LX. They are designed to hold a 6.5in speaker with no window interference. The answer to your question about 6.5's fitting in the 6x9 pod is no. Some one correct me if Im wrong. Just buy some new 6x9's for the back.

If you got to, then just run a wooden template to outfit the new speaker size to the old ones.

However, a 6x9 speaker will definitely be a better choice, if you can get your hands on a set.

If you had covers for them you could do this.

Of course you would need enough MDF or other 3/4 in. material to make two 11-12 in squares with radius corners. You'll need a router and a 1/2 radius bit to put roundovers on the baffle boards and a table saw to cut the boards to size. You would also need some fabric and spray addhessive. So if you have thouse things and maybe some other things to make it easier, then do that..... but if not just go buy new 6x9 speakers. easier.
