ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

i believe its a 900w 2 channel amp. they hit pretty hard in ma friends volvo. but im only gonna be using one of the subs since i hate having alot of bass. im probably going to have the bass turned down real low.

wa guage wire should i use to connect the components to the amp?

whats the rms on the sub amp?

I believe the alpine wants 4 guage. but im not sure.

the way i determine it is counting the amps of the fuses on the amps. I add them all up and then look up the guage wire and see how much current can it handle.

i have 2 amps in my car.

      eclipse xa4100 (4 channel)
      directed extreme 2400d (mono)

im running 4 guage, with a 4 guage distribution block. so 4 guage goes to each amp. its barley enough, so from the engine bay to the distribution block im going to run 0 guage, its overkill but i had extra wire.

try running 2 sets of 4 guage paralell along the rails and see if you get any buldging...lol i didnt. then add the 5 pairs of rcas lol. no buldging on the carpet =).

for your info since im blabbin, this is my setup, IN MY VAN:

eclipse xa4100 4 channel under the seat 75x4 digital rms
      directed extreme 2400d 800 x 2 @ 2 ohm 1200 x 1 @ 1 ohm RMS <----im at 1 ohm
MtX 7500 10'' x 2 subs, sealed box for clean sound. both are 400watts rms. I am pushing these subs hard about 600watts rms true power, but they love em, no distrortion, and the amp is turned down.
      audiocontrol 3 way crossover
      orion (old school style) eq
      pioneer 6800mp deck
polk momo 6.5'' components in the front, tweeter mounted on speaker
polk DB component 6.5'' in the rear tweeter mounted on speaker

The crossover and eq was a little overkill, i dont even tweak it crazy high...just a nice smooth sound (loudness on the deck off). I play it loud and it sounds clean.

Oh and all the amps are hidden out of view, the mono and the cap is in the side wall, and my 4 channel is under the seat.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

Why did you decide to go with the coaxial configuration for the fronts?
I like that set up though. esp that amp lol

          they are components, not coax.

waht i did cause i have alot of room in the door, i didnt want to drill a hole for the tweeter, its actually better that the tweeter be closer to the woofer for sound staging.

so i put the grill that the speaker came with on the speaker (like i was surface mounting it), modified the circle in the center for the tweeter and mounted it. factory cover still exist and no holes on my door pannel.

for the rears they were 5x7, i made a template and put the woofer (6.5'') in and then above it on the template i put the tweeter, nice and clean.

You can hear me a block away, bass and everything...every note ever so clear. barley any rattles, and if the windows were down on the freeway and my music was blasted, you still can hear me comming.

ok im debating on whether to use the 2 10"s or just one. one of the speakers has to be recoiled but i already have a ported box for them. i hate having too much bass but i figured if i turned it down all the way itll sound good. if a speaker has to be recoiled will it sound as good as new or no? and around how much does it cost to do this?

It depends on if the manufacturer provides recones for your subs. They should sound like a brand new sub. Just use the good sub. One 10 sounds like plenty enough for you

id just go with 1 10" with a about 1.5 to 2.1 cu@about 28-30hz so u can get the hit the lows with authority with great SQ and still have cargo space and will still be able to crank it up and get loud because its a wagon ei: no trunk. just my 2 cents

ok so one ten it is. since i have to go ahead and get a new box , should it be ported or sealed since it wont be inside a trunk?

the components im getting have an option to place the tweeter in the center of the woofer. will this be better or should i just put the tweeter in the door panel next to the handle?

                      thats all your preference.

I have 2 10 in a sealed box. I love sealed, its not as loud as ported boxes but its really nice and acurate. i like clean sounding subs but if i want to these subs will hit the notes.

if you like deep bass go with the ported....alternative music sounds nicer on sealed boxed.

I would use the crossover built into the amp also!

with a low tune, you can have the Sq and accuracy of a sealed box with more lows and output generally. The sub plays a big part in how low or how deep also.

ok ive decided to get a sealed box. i want the bass to sound clean and not hit so hard so i wont drown out my mids and highs.

so as far as sound staging .. is it better to put the tweeter in the center of the woofer or in the door panel? i heard its better to put it in the center but then wouldnt the person not hear the highs since the tweeter is farther away from the ear?

x2 A low tuned box can have a flatter response, lower extension(to a certain point), and more volume than a sealed box.

As far as staging is concerned, mounting your tweeter up high will general bring the stage up, but not all the time. I would rather shoot for the door panel than coaxial. I suggest trying both and see which one you like better.
