ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Subwoofers

I wanna put a new sub in my CB9, there is a spot for a sub in the side of the trunk but I don't know how big it is and if I plug a new one it could handle the power and the electrical stuff.

Would anyone know how big the rear sub is and how much could it handle electrically?

The rear "sub" is actually just a 6x9.

I would say to go with a sub/box setup, otherwise anything you'd be mounting back there would have to be made for free air operation. Also, anything bigger than that 6x9 would probably rattle pretty bad.

        It's just a speaker? LOL.
I was thinking of a box, some of my friends did that.

How would I get the box to stay on the carpet when moving and the wires from the front? Also my friends fuse he had to upgrade in the engine bay if a sub recommends 30A or something should I put like 36A?

here you go buddy, first link in google

          http://www.caraudiohelp.com/how_to_i..._a_car_amp.htm

i think you need to start with the basics if you don't know the difference between a sub and 6x9s...

as for the box staying still, it wont move if its heavy enough. if its light, i guess "L" brackets. never had to bolt my box down so i dont know what im talking about.

a 6X9 is considered a midrange. It does produce bass, but nothing compared to a sub. Also, 6X9s include a tweeter, so it can produce highs, a subwoofer isn't capable of doing so.

A sub is a dedicated speaker that plays the low frequencies 80hz and down usually and a 6x9 is just the shape/size of the speaker. A sub can be a 3 inch speaker if you want it to, would it work well......? no

So are most "subs" in stock cars not actually subs?
That totally makes sense because my dad has a "sub" is his IS 300 and my friends have real subs and it's HUGE difference.

My friends have subs and they had to change there fuses in the engine bay, where are they in the CB7's?

I have a list of some stuff to see if it's good.

6x9 is not considered a midrange, it is a midbass, there WERE 6x9 free air subs made by kicker although they wouldnt get as low as a sub they were still subs. I considered them (as did the shop i worked for) a midbasss anyways.

There is a member on here that has a sub in the sidepocket.

honestly...you are picking at details. Midrange and midbass are the same freakin thing. And like sonik said, technically a sub could be 3", but lets be real with ourselves.

Not necessarily. the woofer on the 6x9 has to play into midrange territory to cross over smoothly with the tweeter. And we're comparing different uses. If you use the 6x9 in a two way coaxial/component setup, then it's going to play some midrange and midbass. If you use it as a dedicated sub, then it's more than likely going to play some midbass down to sub range. You could use it as a dedicated midbass also, in a 3 way component setup.

Basically it has it's own place, it just depends on the end user what it's going to be used for.

                            Not going for a 6 x 9 anyways, though I could put a extra 6 x 9 in there with real subs.

Noticed you're shopping at futureshop. They got a really hot deal right now. 2 for 1 on some MTX 10". I picked some up for my buddy, they are far from crazy, only 250 rms, but at $100 for both, its a good bang for buck.

As for that head unit, helllll no. Do not get JVC. if you're set on getting something from there now, id say go for this Panasonic one....
                              http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0099757&catid=

As for the speakers you picked out, im not a fan of coaxial, i like components, but they're expensive there unless they got a crazy sale which they don't at the moment.

So just wait, keep looking, just get those subs for now, and act quick because i went to one and the were sold out, and went to another and got the last two.
