ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

New Stereo Installed! Now a few problems...

Hey guys! I finally upgraded and got myself a CD player!

I got a Pioneer DEH-93100UB. I love it! It's super clean looking, blends with the interior nicely, and even has a three band parametric EQ! I'm a sound engineer so that's flippin' sweet to me. =D

But now, issues... Hokay, so, hear's da problem:

    1) How can I hook up the new unit to signal my antenna motor to go up/down?

    2) Something weird happened with the wiring... After I hooked everything up and reconnected the battery, etc, funny things are happening with my car:
    -My dome light doesn't work
-There is some kind of short between my lighter and my instrument cluster. When I open my door it will light up in the display, but so will my tailgate. My tailgate light will also light up when I turn on my headlights and my lighter (phone charger) won't work.
-My seat belt beep sounds like it's underpowered. It has to scoop up to the actual tone instead of sounding good and strong. Also, it repeats itself every time the door opens and closes instead of only when the ignition is turned on.

I could really use some help here. I HATE when little stuff like this goes wrong. I LOVE my car and want it to be in top shape. Please help me if you can. Thanks.

as far as the antenna, it should plug right into the back of the radio

No no... POWER antenna. There should be a wire that goes from the head unit wire harness to the power antenna wire to tell the motor to go up and down, but there isn't so the car's power wire is just hanging in there now.

There is supposed to be a blue wire (it's called the "remote" (System remote control)) on your radio, just plug it with the YELLOW/WHITE wire on the original harness.

sounds to me like he/she cut their harness and wired directly into the car instead of using an adapter harness. ALL the wires are marked CLEARLY and they would have seen the wire marked power antenna. You could also use the remote turn on wire for the amp.
"you can catch me swoopin 4G coupin switchin lanes" haha haha.

No, I totally used a harness. That's too ghetto for my taste, haha!
Ok, so the "remote" wire is good for antenna? Thank you very much! The manual didn't say anything about that... I'll hook it up now. But what about my poltergeist problem? I locked my car door (which locks all the others automatically) and closed the door. Walking around the car I just heard it unlock, then lock again?!?!?!

WTF is wrong with my damn car? lol

The "remote" wire is a remote amp turn-on, it's a low-amperage 12 volt signal that tells your amps when to come on (if you have them), there should be another wire for the power antenna

yea blue remote line from head unit. works for power antenna or amp. it's just a control and doesn't actually power the antenna motor.

Thieves suck. I think someone stole the deck out of mine before I got it. That or someone did bad install with a dull knife to cut the harness up. lol Gotta find new plug at JY to fix it all.

Yeah, I know that, but it tells the antenna to go up and down.

So I hooked up the remote line to my antenna and it's not working. Any other ideas?

Also, I have an idea for the short problem in my cluster, etc. There is a wire that tells the stereo to dim (orange) that does not have anything to connect to in my new deck. I think by that circuit not being completed it's causing the feedback. What would I hook it up to? I'll check the small lights fuse too.

I'm really new to these cars. Mine doesn't even have an antenna on it! Need to get that picked up and done. I've read plenty on here that they like to strip out. Do you hear anything trying to move?

And the thing about the dimmer line, that happens all the time. Most aftermarket units don't use it. Just make sure it's well insulated & not touching anything and it won't be a problem.
