sony or pioneer??

Ive been putting stereos in my cars for17yrs and Alpine always last longer. Every time ive had a sony, they break. Pioneer ive had always had problem with the flaceplate connectors. Alpine is a better brand, better quality

thats honestly what your gonna base your decision on??? because i can say the complete opposite about alpine. lets not act like Alpines face plates dont break and the laughable 9855's glidetouch that never worked and stopped working all the time,I got tired of replacing those. Are we talking quality, specs, hardware, signal to noise ratio etc etc etc or looks???im not judging on $200 alpines and pioneers im judging across the complete board like from the $89 decks to the $1000 decks with add on procesors. Maybe we will have to agree to disagree but most people buy Alpine for the name and name only, they still put out decks with bass and treble only, a hard to operate menu, and most owners dont even know how to properly use the EQ because the menus is so retarded. ive owned both sony, eclipse, alpine, premier, and clarion and from the Premier 9800mp to the 8600mp and now im using the 800prs premier hasnt let me down but on average those decks are around $600 so maybe that puts em out of the league of the average customer but i still think pioneer is a better bang 4 the buck but alpine does put outdecent equipment but not in the $300 and down compared to pioneer

Pioneer does put out good stuff, but you have to spend money to get the right stuff. Im talking about the expeirence I have owning just about all the brands of decks. In the under $300 dollar range, I would get a Alpine. Above the $500 dollar range , I would do some more research on the options and reliablity. But I would never get another Sony. I started buying Alpine decks back in 93 and they have always been good to me. I own a 9852 and it fine, I wish it controled the speaker more but I got it for 90 w/ a Ipod controler used. But I dont expect a radio to do all that for me, I would just get a Audio Control EQ/ But I will admitthis, 10yrs ago I had a sony digital din EQ and it did better that any eq I bought, I always returned them because the sony did everything. I shut the bass all the way off when I saw cops, I had it hooked up to 4 Kicker 12's in a Cadi, and it controled all me highs. It also made the bass hit harder. I go with my expierence unless I seen first hand. I trying to keep my system simple and light, but dam I miss BASS

X2, i paid $120 for my Pioneer and i couldn't ask for more, but ofcourse i went looking for it. got a $400 Clarion deck, and my Pioneer impressed me more. The pioneer was so basic, no fancy options, but sounded so damn good, a great deck. The clarion had all the bells and whistles. you could select your speaker setup, the type of car (sedan, wagan, van, etc.), even set how many centimeters each speaker was away from you, but never sounded as good as the Pioneer. And for the record, it was a direct swap, same speakers, same amps.

Eclipse makes bad ass head units, hell, bad ass everything car audio related, but their decks are very pricey. that 7200mk is the shit.

+1 I loved my CD7100 and all the control it gave me. I was itching for a screen/nav though, so I went to a Kenwood DNX8120. I know not as good SQ as the eclipse, but there is always a trade off.

ive never been to impressed by eclipse i had one a few years back and i loved the 8v pre-outs but wasnt to fond of the eq and settings but it was decent. The navigation was cool for a single din non fold out screen unit but i had that deck around 2000

screw it all im shittin on the game with the JVC. i got a jvc in 3 different cars... 2 of the radios are goin on past the 4-5 year old marks. alpine used to be good then they became obsessed with ipod and grew away from great sound processing. pioneer has issues that still continue to pop up even after model changes ... u know the famous grounding in the RCA ouputs... sony IMO has always been just a cheap deck to make money off of it shows loads of features but as said sony decks arent really known for lasting. Every company has its weakness but as stated research come back with a price range and name some features u like/want and everyone can go from there.

WOW!!!! another comparrison thread with no specifics. Can u atleast do some research first and give us a price range or features your looking for? Each brand has atleast 12 decks to choose from each, i dont wanna sound like an AZZ but we get these same threads ever month.
