ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Subwoofers

Im looking to get a set of the JL Audio W0 does anyone have them and if so are they some good subs???

    #2
This seems to be a recurring question in these forums. If you're new to subs and aftermarket audio you really can't make a decision based on the experience of others. Everyone loves/hates every model out there. To get a good feel, head to your local best buy or American. Hell, hit up some friends that have subs and see what they sound like! Then listen. This is most important because it doesn't matter how expensive a speaker is, if it sounds like ass to you then you will be unhappy and then come back to here and tell everyone how sucky whatever brand you brought was. Using your own ears, make a judgement.

That being said there is some general guidelines that can be layed down for making a proper purchase of subs. First, know what the jargon means. Buying a 700w RMS Sub and a mono-amp with 500w RMS will get you nowhere. Be familiar with what OHMS are and how they affect power output and the like. Second consider the costs. You MUST buy these things to make a sub work: Sub (obviously), amplifier, proper wiring kit, large gauge speaker wire. Not to mention most factory CD decks simply won't put a signal out to a subwoofer, so then you have to throw in the cost of new deck, wiring adapter (which is surprisingly expensive) and possibly installation (unless you want to do this on your own, which isn't the easiest thing to do on our cars). Then consider whether your current battery/alternatory are up to the strain of whatever system you choose. The costs really add up huh? Finally, consider down time for your car. If you're going to purchase the sub and other junk you need, then how much time will it take to install? Unless you're an experienced car electronics guy, then it's probably going to be a weekend project. Then you have to ensure you properly ground all wires, lest you risk blowing something up.

Ok, now that I've gotten that out of my system I have to ask why you want JL audio? I'm currently running a single 12" Alpine Type R with Infinity Amp and it sounds phenominal. I'm a sound quality freak though and I don't look to blow the windows out of peoples houses. That's annoying and inconsiderate if you ask me.

you don't have to get a new deck it's not necessary..but would be nice to have and much easier.

but if you want to run with stock get a LOC (line out converter) they have them at Walmart. etc. which takes speaker signals and turns them into RCA's.

To answer the original question. I'm running two jl 12wo-8s wired @ 4ohms and I'm very happy with them for quality and bumpiness.

Other than that JL is good just as long as you don't mind having the Flowmaster of speakers.

if you really want to hear Type-R's then go to best buy they have it set up and out so you can listen and see if you like it or not.
