ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Decent system?

First off i would like to say i have 0 idea about anything audio wise other than installing a headunit lol.

My buddy is getting rid of his system, i never really heard it on. he has two 12" sony xplods with a 1200 watt amp and said he will give it to me for 175 installed/teaching me lol.

Is this system anything worth getting? will it last with normal use? What other speakers are decent? Im not looking for anything like kicker l7's or that, cant afford to blow out my windows lol.

thanks for any help or replys.

Theyre good for a starter system. My wifes brother has the same thing in his car for his first system.

Well if you've never had a system in your car before than you will probably think its good. But if you have listened to alot of systems before then you probably wouldnt get sony xplodes. But hey 175 and you get to learn how to put it in aint bad

really aint hard, dont carck up over the teaching part. basically run wire from batt to amp, ground the amp, remote for the amp - HU, rca's from HU to amp, and speaker wire from subs to amp, and your done. Ask him to show you how to properly "tune" the amp, to match the HU's voltage to your amp, then thats some good stuff to learn, 85% dont know how to tune an amp, your going to need a test tone, and dmm, if you want I can pm you some infoo.

Eh, I don't know if I'd pay 175 for it. You could probably go to Wal Mart and get the same stuff cheaper. Maybe the same price, but, you'd be getting it all brand new.

          I got a Kicker Impulse 2252xi and 2 JL Audio 12w4's for 175 with a box

It doesn't seem like it would be too hard to put in, but having someone there that knows whats going on will help me greatly.

Thats what i was thinking tho. i though maybe i could get it new for around there but havent got anywhere to check..

I'm not sure what amp he's selling you, but, I highly doubt it's 1200 watts. It might be a third of that, tops. And on the amp, you wanna get something decent, otherwise you'll be running a lot of distortion, which is a huge killer of woofers. Granted it, the amp might say it has a lot of power, but, it might be dirty power.

You may want to talk him down on the price a little, but it is a decent starter system for someone who hasnt had a system.

Thank you guys for your help.. idk what the watts are on the amp he just has told me 1200, i haven seen the amp but saw pics of the subs, he lives in the moutans with my cusent. So if yous dont think they are worth it im not going to drive 3 hours for them lol.

But anyway i had two 12" somethings in my blazer,(there when i bought it) they thumped and i blew out the rear hatch window twicee. but i dont really want something that will do any damage(concidering that blazer windows are easy as pie to replace) Just enough that i can hear it back there. any suggestions? sorry totally horrable with the lingo for audio. thanks for dealing with me lol.

I think a couple good 10 inch woofers and a good, name brand amp should suffice.

A lot of the sound from your woofers has to do with the box they're in. You can have the best woofers money can buy, put em in a shitty box, they'll sound just like that, shit.

Depends. Sealed give tighter, more responsive bass. Ported gives lower bass

blow out hatch the same as breaking the window? If that is the case bs, takes atleast 155-160 db to break glass haa.
