ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Show off your Sub/Amp setup

Well, As some of you know i bought a 10" JL Audio Subwoofer and a Alpine 10" type E subwoofer for my cb. Thought it would sound good with my new Alpine head unit . Im awaiting the arrival of the Kenwood amp and the Jl and Alpine subs. Im still wondering how i should lay everything out on the trunk. Im gonna do two single 10" box's since a buddy gave me a 10" box for nothing. Im gonna mount the amp on the back seat. So lets see your guys setups. It will help me for ideas!
    Thanks!

Run power on one side of the car, and the rca's on the other side. Back of the rear seat is a good place for the amps. I'd use custom security screws to mount everything and make it that much harder for thieves to remove, plus for insurence coverage it has to be "part of the car". Don't forget the BIG 3. Consider replacing the board under the trunk carpet with something more durable, mdf, fiberglass, secure it to the chassis, and secure your box to the mdf/fiberglass through the carpet, then mount your sub to your box. For optimal sub sound quality you should double check that box that you got for free to see if the internal volume is correct for your subs. Add an additional grounding location to the chassis for the deck.

Good luck! Take pictures when your done!

WHY are you mixing brands (subwise) get ONE brand not 2 different ones. They will not sound alike no matter what you do with them. Sell the alpine and get another JL or vise versa

Do it right B, match your subs to each other, be sure you get a fuse or breaker at the battery, because shit happens.

It is huge. It's 4.73 cu. ft. and it weighs a fucking ton. I could probably pick up a couple of tenths at the track if I took it out. I bought it off of a buddy with the amp and a 6 disc I never used for $100. He had it put together, rolled it for a few months and then put it in storage for a while. I took the subs out, installed some better wire and put it back together. It sounds great though, which surprised me, I didn't expect it to be as good as it is. I thought about cutting it down to be smaller, but it hits hard, the lows sound good rolling around in there and it doesn't seem worth the effort for a box I'm getting rid of this spring anyway.
I have plans from JL for a bandpass designed just for my set up. I emailed them my space and equipment, after a couple of swapped emails to discuss what I wanted, they emailed me back the plans. When I got the plans, I had to make a scale model out of paper to see it. It has a 6 3/4" x 9" round port that extends 4 inches outside the back wall of the box. When I get done, my trunk will open up to a flat wall with a 9 inch port sticking out of it and I'm doing a lexan window on the front side, so with the seat down you'll be able to see clear through into the car (as well as seeing the subs on the sides). I can't wait!

my custom sub install in my wagon

i measured the space and found a sub that required the exact cubic feet as the compartment. then i sealed it off with spray dynomat stuff and added a seal strip around the door.
sounds pretty good, i dont need alot of bass, just a nice sounding upgrade..
exactly what i was aiming for

I like that. I've thought about just building a couple small slot ports flush with the inside of the wheels wells, to go on each side of the trunk, leaving the center open for amp, fan, power distribution block, whatever. There's a lot of airspace on the sides if you just come out to the wheel wells, ya know?

ya, just need to support the walls or build new ones.
the wagon compartments are more solid then the sedan trunk.

i made it a sealed compartment
