Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Funky speakers

    Here is what was in my car.





    Funky because it is a dual voice coil speaker that gets signals from both sides.

    Expensive little bugger too so I just bought a foam kit and repaired it to good as new.

    Sounds great and cost me a grand total of $4.95 instead of the near $80 for a new one.

      Yes, this seems to be the idea they had back in 1991 for a sub woofer.

      This speaker is mounted on the rear drivers side in the rear of my Wagon.

      It gets the signal for the bass from both the right and left chs.

      Note the 2 seperate connectors in the second photo.

      I don't have a need for anything better then the stock set up but just couldn't stand all the ratteling when I turned the stock radio on.

      Some of us like to keep things the way they were designed from the beginning but I have no problems with those who want a kickin sound system.

      I found this exact speaker in 4 different junk yard wagons but all were in the same shape. Foam rots after 15-20 years but it is simple to fix.

        so how do you replace the foam? i've never done it, always just got new speakers. do u just glue it to the cone and basket or what? i'm sure its simple.

              It is a crossover of sorts in that the two 1.5 Mh coils probably filter the signals before they get to the dual voice coils.

              Replacing the foam on these is pretty simple. Buy the right siz foam kit and it comes with the glue. You remove the old foam carefully and glue the new one to the paper first and then to the metal frame making sure you are not pulling the cone off center.

              Most speaker repair places have the foam kits or just go on ebay.

              If the paper cone is trashed or the voice coil is fried then don't bother.
