ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

A capacitor is an electrical device that can store energy in the electric field between a pair of closely spaced conductors....
s are used to store extra energy for the amplifier to draw on demand. Capacitors are useful because they can reduce the voltage loss (small margin) on the other electrical components in the car. These large capacitors may not cure headlight and/or interior light dimming as this is a sign of too little amperage from the alternator. A capacitor is only good so far as the audio system isn't trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A capacitor doesn't provide more power, it's designed to 'stiffen' the voltage to the amp, nothing else. If the current isn't there, a cap won't help. The alternator must have at least 20% more amperage power than the entire vehicle and sound system combined for a capacitor to be of benefit which is ironically the same requirements for an amp to be efficient.
A rule of thumb is that 0.5 faradFarad

The farad is the SI unit of capacitance. ...
of capacitance is needed for every 500 watts of power in your audio system. A capacitor does not affect sound in any way. It is strictly for power conditioning.

in 9-10 cases you dont need a cap. Use your money on a better alt or battery

The channels are basically a set of positive and negative outputs. The more channels you have, the more individual speakers you can connect to the amp.

something i found out is after you spend all this money on your system and buy a new batt and alt your lights are still dimming.. the one really good way to help stop that is to bump up you guage of wire.4,2,0 are thick and it has alot looser current running through it. my lights were dimming just on 2400 watts i moved up to 4800 then went to a 0g and my lights wont dim i also see people put shalow mount or motorcycle batteries in the back of the car with a 0g setup and it seems to help!

what does that have to do with explaining what a cap and channels on an amp are?

for a capacitor to work, your voltage would have already dropped. Wait a second isnt the purpose of a capacitor to prevent this voltage drop? That is why capacitors FAIL!!! Buy a small battery, Powermaster, Kinetik, or a yellowtop will do the trick.
