Good Price or not??

Local shop call HPracing Best buy wanted 532 for everything. But my buddy Sean said his shop could do it for $ 758 but i would be getting Polk speakers with components and a JVC headunit with sub out puts and wired up Ipod jack also he said he would wire my MTX Dual 12 and alpine amp up for free and Dinomat my trunk.

yeah you gonna be wasting so much money if you do that. installation is not hard when you buy the harness and all that. you pay the 50 dollars and there gonna work 5 min and have it all done. not worth it

i dont think the debate is based around the equipment. he's paying a good price for that, its the installation. and honestly, i wouldnt buy any audio at walmart.

there are a lot of diy's on this site(previously linked by more senior members), there's no way you should be paying that much for installs/labor, even a couple of your comp. prices are high...i wouldn't go through with that deal.......just my opinion of course

Ok i got quoted a price today on a basic speaker + headunit set up and i need to know if this is a good price.

Alpine Type S 6x1/2- $89.99 +50 install fee
Alpine Type S 6x9 3ways- $130.00 + 50 install fee
Alpine CDA 9884 head unit- $199.99 + 75 install fee
Dash kit- $20.00
Harness-$20.00

Total = $634.98

These are the common prices listed on most major sites for the components you got quoted for:

type s 6-1/2's - $60
type s 3way 6x9's - $110
9884 head unit - $160
dash kit - $14
harness - $9

component total - $353.......

Shit, if you were closer, I'd do it just for shits and grins. 1, I don't mind doing it. 2, if I can help a fellow cb enthusiast out, it'd be worth it. It'd take me about an hour tops, that's from start to finish.

And with the head unit, it's so simple. Get the wire plug from a stereo store, take the wire plug from the head unit, and simply color match.

The real reason i want professional install is because ive ran into a couple of issues with warrentees and i really dont wanna go there again lol

I used to install for 7 yrs before I came into the military! started at circuit city and moved up to creative car stereo in lafayette Cali. Custom shops are fun but after you make shop supervisor, there is now here to go but OWN your own shop!

ok well im taking yall advise and after christmas im gonna be look on ebay for some used Speakers, H/U, Amp, and Subs. But my question is before i take on this project, do you have to run the speaker though the amp and if so why?

what are they smoking? It takes about an hour to do it. I put in my boys stereo, speakers, tweeters amp and subs and fixed one of door lock thingys for $30.
