ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    multi amps

i already have a 2 channel amp wired to subs

now im in the look in getting a 4 channel amp to power my speakers

    i know ill need:
    4 channel amp (of course)
    amp wiring kit
    SPDT relay
    power distribution block

would i have to even use a second battery, capacitor, or upgrade my alternator to run 2 amps?

not unless you get a crazy big watt one. You should be fine on the setup you have now. If you want to do something to improve it, do the big 3. You might not need the relay, it's cool if you want to go ahead and add it but don't think its a requirement.

you can just daisy it off. I had to use one but I am running 4 amps, plus some other items. The remote can signal two items generally, but after that the signal gets too weak. It's one of those things, doesn't hurt to have but not required.

You don't need a relay. Just go to radioshack and get a terminal strip for the remote wire.
            x2 on the big3
You don't need a ground block unless you want your install to have an extra "oooo ahhhh" factor.

Well, some CB7 has the power antenna which uses the remote on lead. So if I have 2 amps and the power antenna, do I need this relay?
              Thanks,

The question then becomes, does the HU have both REM and power ant outputs. Mine does so I have one just for the ant and the other for my amps. If it only has the one REM it might be a good idea to get the relay. I have ran three amps off a single REM but this was many years ago and I do not know if the specs for this have changed. It is sometimes better to be safe than sorry. Plus if you decide to add more in the future you have that option.

Also if you already have a 4 gauge wire running to your amp you could just put a block in to run the second amp. If you are running smaller guage I would upgrade to 2 or 4 gauge and then DB out to your amps. Don't go cheap on the wire either, get good stuff. A good cap can cost as much as a high output alt on ebay. I just picked up a 160 amp $120 shipped. Many people I talk to just run caps but I upgraded my alt because I am going to run additional stuff. And it can never hurt to have a little extra juice.

Or you can run one rem wire to one amp, then run another wire from that amp to your second amp.

I ran three amps off the power antena wire on the deck in my old Corolla. I ran that setup for years with no problem. My new deck in my CB has a separate line out for the power antena and for amps. You should be able to just split the power antena wire to your amps. This wire doesn't have a lot of power(usually 1 or 2 volts) it is only a remote power turn on.

A grounding block/distribution block lets you run more than one amp. It will have one input which the main ground that is grounded to your car goes into and then it will have maybe 4 outputs or however many it comes with. You would put your 4 gauge wire into one side and then on the other side it will have outputs where 8 gauge or whatever can go into. Google distribution block and it should come up with a pic that would help you understand it better than I can explain it. I'm a little slow right now lol.
