ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

only depends on what amp you have some Amps put out max rms power at 4ohm and some at 2ohm just depends on what amp u have, doesnt mean a 2ohm or 4ohm sub is better then the other

The ohm rating is just for people that want different things, As mentioned it has to do with the amp. Get the sub that will match up best to your amp.

A dual 2 ohm sub can either be wired to one single 4 ohm or a single 1ohm. A 4 ohm sub can be wired to a single 8 or a single 2.

jus like everyone is saying depends on wat you got to use...but the lower you go the harder it slams...so 2 12" at two ohms w/ the right amp will slam hard...

            Not entirely true.

Amplifiers are, for the most part, more efficient at higher ohm loads(4 ohms, 8 ohms, etc) and will produce less heat at higher ohm loads.

Generally, you can find a nice 2 channel amp that will do, for example

            200W RMS x2 @ 4 ohms
            400W RMS x2 @ 2 ohms
            800W RMS x1 @ 4 ohms bridged

In this case, if you had 2 - 4 ohm DVC (dual voice coil) subs, you could either wire them at 400W RMS x2 @ 2 ohms (1 sub wired to each channel) or wire them at 800W RMS x1 @ 4 ohms bridged (both subs 'bridging' the two channels). The later scenario, 800W RMS x1 @ 4 ohms, will produce the same amount of power as 400W RMS 2x @ 2 ohms, and the subs will still wire to the amp properly, but there will be less strain on the amp because of the higher ohm index.

            ________________________________

To the OP: What amp are you going to use to power the sub(s), and how many subs are you planning to buy?

2 12's have more surface area than 1 15, but if you are going to port them I would go with the 15 unless you dont mind not having a trunk.
