ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Need recommendations for new system.

I need to put a new system in. Here is what I would like:

    1. Motorized DVD video headunit (single DIN able to be hacked to watch while car is moving)
    2. 1x 12" sub (200-300 watt RMS range maybe more)
    3. Mono amp to power sub
    4. 2 x 6x9's speakers for the rear
    5. 2 x 6.5" speakers for the front
    6. 4-way amp to power above speakers
    7. Wiring for everything

I am also considering a 5-way amp to power everything.

Feel free to recommend older/used items as well as new products.

    Thanks!

Again, when choosing a stereo for your vehicle, a few things need to be taken into consideration.

    1) how much do you want to spend
    2) are you looking for sound quality, spl
    3) you can read reviews and get opinions, but then again, its all a matter of your opinion, what might work out great for you, might be a complete piece of shit to someone else.

There is a link for some audio websites, do some research and go from there

I think I am going for more so sound quality even though I like a little boom. I am lookiing to spend $1000-$1500. I will be installing this. I definately wouldn't mind good used parts to keep the cost down.

Don't mind mixing brands. Don't have any brand preference as long as it's good quality stuff.

I'm not just an Alpine fanboy so no bashing here please.

                  Headunit:
If I was you I would mount up a double DIN videoscreen like the Clarion MAX685BT. Looks way cleaner in our CB's. Alot like my old panasonic cqvd6505...

                  http://www.clarion.com/ca/en/product...393344777.html
But if you want a flip-out single din go with something like a Clarion VRX485VD. Great cheap video headunit but not alot of features. (ie. no usb) If I remember right just ground the Ebrake wire and you can watch movies whenever you like.
                  http://www.clarion.com/ca/en/product...393345677.html

                  Amplifier:
I am in love with the Alpine PDX-5 Right now It is amazingly clean and puts out a ton of power. 75w RMS to all four speakers and 300 RMS to the subs and its so small you could probably even mount under a seat in a CB!
                  http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...hp?model=PDX-5

                  Speakers:
With the budget your hopeing for in the states you might come up with something better for speakers but in Canada all you would have left for cash would be enough for Alpine Type-S 5 1/4" coaxials in the rear and 6 1/2" components in the front.
                  http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=SPS-600C
                  http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=SPS-13C2
The reason i say 5 1/4" is because the rear decks of our cb's wont take a full size 6 1/2". I tried this with many speakers in a customers car and had to go with really basic shitty kenwoods cause thats all that would fit.
These type S are a kick ass sounding speaker for very little money. Ya there is better out there if you can afford it like focal and hertz but i dont think they will fit your budget.

                  Sub:
I think this amp would push an Alpine Type-R 10" or 12" Quite well. That would be my first choice.
                  http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...odel=SWR-1242D

Thats pretty much enough to get you dangerous. That system would really sound clean with that PDX-5. and you would only have to have one amp wiring kit with 2 extra sets of RCA's. All the other components change up all you like but keep that amp for the next ten years at least. That is one of alpine's greatest creations yet. They work so well in Boats (marine systems) as well I just can't say enough good stuff about them.

Thats a good start for a system that I would even personally run in my own car. Any other questions give me a shout!

Sorry I need to pay more attention. The 6x9 alpine type S will fit the rear deck fine. It's Rare to find a CB up here in Canada with 6x9's. Round speakers will always sound better but if you dont want to do much modifying stick with the 6x9's.
