ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Can I place my amp close to the computer?

Can I place my amp close to the computer?

I have two 18w Alpine amps I'm wiring into my system (I know, they are low powered, let's ignore that for the moment).

They both fit under the metal shield that covers the computer (or electronic control module -not sure of the correct name) that is secured to the floorboard in front of the front seat passenger's feet.

Is this a bad place for the amps? I'm wondering specifically about:

    1) Will the amps give off any kind of electrical noise that will interfere with the computer thingy? They will be literally side to side. If so, is there a way to shield them?

    2) Will the amps get too hot? They will be secured to the shield and there is about an inch or so over space between them and the floor. But the carpet covers the shield.

    Good or bad spot?

I wouldn't mount them there unless the amps remain nice and cool under load, which isn't likely.

not 100% on this 1 but im gonna say no 2 running the power wires so close 2 ur ecu any kinda shock could damage shit its said that the static shock from ur carpet can damage it so id b iffy about putting something like that next 2 my ecu what do u wanna run them for? ur front speakers? id just get a 4 channel and hook it in the trunk and run ur own speaker wires to the doors simple as pie or even if theyre that small they can fit next 2 ur ecu u should just put the under ur seats they sound 2 b pretty small so shouldint b a prob there. plus heat wise under ur carpet and being almost upside down they might not last 2 long cause they wont mb able 2 breathe but thats just my 2 cents happy hunting.

Thanks all. I'm not going to mount them here, due to all the reasons listed above.

either in the trunk, or under the front seats is also a good idea if they are small amps!!!! especially if its for your door speakers, save some wiring and time
