ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    91 lx rear speakers?

I was just trying to verify what is back there before i go take them out; i think they're 6.5 but im not sure. They do just unbolt from the trunk, right? I know that they come out in the little pods, but wasnt sure about it. Main reason i'm wondering is if they're 6x9, or 6x9's will fit my dad has a set that he was going to give me since my stockers dont work.

Yes, they are 6.5" and for the 6x9 to work, you have to have the pod out of an EX and do a little cutting to get it to fit. But some good component 6.5's will be just fine. And yes, they unbolt from under the deck lid, in the trunk

I don't remember any cutting of an EX pod to fit on the LX. I did a swap on mine and it fits like a glove.

I had a 92 LX and put 6x9 pioneers and they had to do some cutting to get them to fit. That was after the guy swore on the front side that they would fit...

Your best bet is to take them out and be done with rear speakers for good.

Get a nice set of components for your front stage (front doors) and amp them with the appropriate amount of power (go by RMS ratings, not MAX!).

Rear speakers tend to ruin your sound stage, they can cancel your front stage out with awkward shaped sound waves (thanks to them pointing at the rear glass) and they tend to overpower the front stage thanks to them being mounted in a huge metal box (the trunk).

I have a 92 LX it came with the standard 6.5 pods I went to a local junk yard and pulled a pair of 6X9 pods out of a 92 ex and they fit perfect. There was no cutting involved.
