ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

sounds liek a decent setup, check online to verify the prices and if they are compareable go for it!

Are you installing it yourself? If so how much do you know about it?

If they are going to install it, how much are they charging you? And dont forget you will need wiring and all that as well.

i checked online, i would be looking at roughly over $350 not inlcuding shipping and not inlcuding the sub box. the guy i'm buying from had the setup originally priced at $335. we met at $300. sounds pretty decent.

a friend of mine walked me through the installation process once for a different setup but he is helping me install this one for free.

i might have to buy a different amp starter kit, but thats why i was asking if the 800 watt amp kit will work with this new setup.

if you mean wiring kits... thats not really a wattage dependent thing. well, it is and it isnt.

500 watts or less 8 gauge. 500w-1000ish 4gauge. 1000+ definately need to bump up the wiring to 0/1. Now there is no definite right or wrong but those are general refrence points.

For you I would say 4 gauge should be fine.

And a friend helping is always great, but make sure your friend knows. Just because he has done it before doesnt mean he did it right. Just be careful because its your stuff, your money and if he f's it up its your mess to deal with. I see it all the time, and I cant tell you how many "friend" installs I clean up. Make sure you dont run the power wire through your door jam. Fuse your power wire. use a proper ground dont use existing factory grounds.

no no it wasnt our buddys that went wrong its our job. we get people that come in all the time saying that my buddy hooked it up and he has done this before and ends up that he did it wrong. either not hookin up a LOC right or running the power wire through the door jam grrr.... lol but yeah if are unsure about any part of install then dont do it and take it to a shop or store.

i read this on the amp specs: "MAX 2 OHM STABLE BASS BOOST"
and this on the sub specs: "Dual 4 ohms model"

                      should i be worried?
                      compatibility issues perhaps?

If it's a 2 ohm stereo stable amp, you will need to wire the sub in series to 8ohms.Your system won't sound the best though at that ohm load. If you wire it parallel your amp may get hot and go into protection. You should look for a single 4 ohm sub or get and amp that can handle a 2 ohm mono load. Hope that helps.

u got some of it right but he can actually wire it to a 4 ohm load. now if i am thinking right and the amp he has is a 2 channel he will be best to wire them in parrallel and have once channel per sub. post a pics of ur amp and sub here and i will tell u how to get the best out of ur amp and sub.
