ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

They will pick up anywhere, as long as they are pointed upwards.

              1) Check www.sirius.com for exact details, but im pretty sure that "DOT" antenna just needs to be pointed up, clear of any obstructions, and at needs to have 3"-6" of clearance on all sides.

              2) As for moving it back and forth, that can make things mess up. Make sure all your connections are tight and make sure the radio is snuggly in the cradle. A time or two mine didnt work cuz the radio wasnt in the cradle tight enough.

Also, that antenna wire is EXTREMELY brittle stuff. Even the slightest bent, crush or kink can really mess things up.

My best suggestion for your truck would either be, if its old enough, route the antenna out through the mini front side window.

If its newer and has a sliding/opening back window, then route it out that way and place it on top of the truck.

I just know that moving it in/out of vehicles can/will mess reception.

Same thing happened with me on my XM. I mounted it all nice and clean, and 1 month later it crapped out. It was a gift, so I didn't have to pay, so I wasn't super pissed or anything about it, just slightly bummed.

What I did (and this is in my prelude) is take the little ash tray out of the center, and then set the base for the XM right in that hole. It had a little gap on either side, but it wasn't bad. It was just the right size to not slip out or anything. I have an aux input on the back of my radio that I plugged it into, and I ran a wire with an inline fuse to an aftermarket ciggie lighter that I left under my dash, and plugged the XM into that instead of my regular one (so I didn't monopolize it).

I ran the antenna wire through the center console (my lude is a '92, so the console goes through the whole car) and made a little stand for the antenna on the back deck, between the speakers. I didn't want to deal with putting it outside the car (lazy) It was an ok place for it, although every once in a while it would cut out if I was pointed the right way.

My opinion after using it was that it was cool, but I ended up only listening to the same couple of channels. So, when it quit working I just went back to burning MP3 cds for my car, or using the aux input I ran for my iPod.

                          Lucky you with the lude....

I had to run my wire through my CB...

Down the side of the dash, under the carpet, side trims, backseat, and up/over things in the trunk...

I gotta do it all again when i get the new antenna..

Lol, it's all still in there, too. The only thing that isn't there is the faceplate for the radio; I just left the plug and antenna. It's been a year, I probably ought to take it out...

Lol, I was on #3. The first one I took back to Sam's club, and after that one my girlfriend gave me hers (she didn't like it, never even put it in her car). So when that one died I was like, screw this. I wasn't going to waste time talking to them just so they could send me another piece of crap that would die within a month.
