ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Hood Pins and CF

Quick question- it is possible to add hood pins to a Carbon fiber hood that didn't come with them stock, right? Drilling the hood won't damage it or anything? I have one without the pins, but it moves a lot going down the freeway, and it's making me nervous...

    Thanks!

How do you think the ones with hood pins got them?

Good call. I wish I'd thought of it before I re-clear coated it. Now it's all shiny and I'm gonna feel bad messing it up.

Tape the area off where you are going to drill.

Take your time and dont drill to close to the edge of the hood, it can crack it.

If your latch works well, you don't need pins. I don't have pins in mine (and I never plan on getting them...) Unless you just want the look...

Not too worried about cracking it... I bought it second hand for my prelude cause I needed a hood, and it was already cracked. It's not too bad, though. I've been running it for 2-3 years now.

As an aside, I bought the prelude out of a junkyard, it had rear-ended someone else and we had to rebuild the front end. The hood was only $200, so I went for it.

It's starting to grow a hairline near the latch, which is part of my concern.

Ah, ok. In that case, pins might be a good idea, or just a new hood!

I don't see a problem with drilling a cf hood to install hood pins. I personally think you should for safety issues... such as preventing it from flying off on the fwy.

Use a step drill to minimize any cracking.

mask it up with tape and have someone with a steady hand do it.
