idea for dual exhaust

has anybody looked under the back end of a camaro recently? see how the muffler is single in dual out? now go put one on your cb7... voila dual exhaust... all you got to do is get pipe cut at the front of the axle have new pipe run from there to the muffler and then out the back... i was thinking about running a dual double tip exhaust like that on my 91... a la bmw m5... we'll see... i dunno about clearance and hanger points under the spare tire area, may have to cut the tire well out and weld in some sheet metal to make this one work... anyway you don't want to have a straight through exhaust unless you're going turbo or supercharged cause u lose torque... anybody who puts a fart can on their car is stupid and can replace their own piston rings cause i am not doing it.

False misconception. A dual will outflow a single anyday because of piping diameter volume and the ability to get rid of gases quicker. It also depends on the design if there are any hickups it can fuck the flow. My friends GS duals will flow equal to a 3" or 3.5" exhaust system. I forgot what he calculated it to but it went from 2.5 main to 2.25 dual out. Either way the tip idea is alright but as mentioned you will look ghetto in cold weather. Either way getting one custom made is the way to go IMO.

Depending on size, a dual exhaust setup will not maintain the proper exhaust velocity to be properly efficient. It works better on larger engines (especially V configurations that can make use of a true dual system) or turbocharged engines (that can use as little restriction in the exhaust as possible).

When the system doesn't promote flow velocity, the flow becomes stagnant, and causes turbulence. Turbulence then creates backpressure. Done right, sure, it'll work. Get a muffler shop to slap something together with big piping, it'll probably suck. If I had a kit that had two spots for mufflers, I'd probably hang a disconnected dummy muffler for looks, and retain the functionality of a single system.

If you dont want the other cut out, simply cut a patch panel out of some aluminum, expanded metal, or other easily worked metal. Temorarily attach it to your kit and start fiberglassing over it. Figerglass it till you're flush with the kit and sand it smooth. The BW rear kit is relatively boxy so it shouldnt be too much of an issue.

that sounds like the best idea, im not a big fan of dual exhausts on hondas. just seems like overkill. that would be your cheapest option too, leaving you more money for other things

i think that just hanging a dummy muffler is a waste of time and money. if it has no use whats the point. sometimes you gotta pay for what you want. but it would be pointless to hang a $70 muffler for looks. functionality is also important. although i do agree that the dual exhaust may be overkill but if you use smaller pipe it will work. and they look cool anyway.

i got my exhaust off of an s2k. i had it custom fitted. 206$ later i had it on soundin like a champ.

That's exactly it... a dual system wouldn't be as useful as a dual system in terms of functionality. To create (and pay for) a dual system just to lose power would be even dumber than hanging a dummy muffler.




My advice... fiberglass over the second cutout. Problem solved.

If you haven't painted the kit yet, and even if you have, close up the unwanted exhaust.. Just my .02.. Anythign else is going to need to be a custom built setup for it fit like it should...
