    Exhaust Issues

Ok guys, i just bought my body kit and of course the rear bumper is that BW style with the two exhaust cutouts. I had no idea it would be this difficult to find a way to get dual exhaust on my car. I want to know what my options are. I found a company called vibrant who makes a cb7 exhaust and a 88-91 civic exhaust that look almost identical except the civic has two tips. same situation with an integra exhaust i found. should i try to make one of those fit? Get a custom exhaust?
Here's some pics so you know what i'm talking about
    (cb7, civic, teg)

If you haven't painted the kit yet, and even if you have, close up the unwanted exhaust.. Just my .02.. Anythign else is going to need to be a custom built setup for it fit like it should...

Well, I recently purchased a body kit also (mine includes the Spider rear). As you may know, this type also has the 2 cut-out design and I intend to institute a custom dual exhaust. You and I are facing about the same situation. The lowered design of the body kit will put our nice, shiny (might I add expensive) exhaust systems closer to the ground. Of course, this would make it more susceptible to *scrapes* and *dings* as we enter/exit steep driveways or parking lots, etc. For this reason, I second the idea that some kind of "custom" work would need to be done to the body kit to correct this upcoming issue. Plus, I don't know about you, but I don't want two hot exhaust tips right up against my body kit!!

In terms of looks, I'm trying to picture this whole thing in my head (in regards to cutting/fabbing the already present cut-outs, etc). If you come up with any helpful solutions, just message back on this thread or PM me directly. I hadn't much thought about this whole deal until I saw this thread. Hope this at least makes sure you know that you're not alone in this one. Just, get back to me anytime. Thanks!

Why not just have the 1 exhaust?? It will still look good IMO

You can custom it. Thats what 91accordexr33 did on his before he went single. I dunno but he might hvae his system for sale or something.

Yeah i saw that setup that 91accordr33 had, i thought it looked really good. what does something like that usually cost?
I think the solution to the problem of the exhaust scraping the ground is to not have a dual-muffler setup. maybe something like those pictures with a single in, dual out muffler that way the base of the tips can be flush with the base of the kit and there is no muffler right behind it to scrape on the ground, i hadn't even thought of that...
I appreciate the advice but i'd rather not close up the second hole only because i'm superficial and i think dual exhaust is so sweet, does anyone think the integra exhaust might fit? Are the bodies of cb7's and integras similar enough?
Last but not least, any price estimates are much appreciated

Buy a tip. Just a tip. Fabricate a bracket out of stuff from the hardware store and mount the dummy tip in the driver side cutout. Voila. All the look with almost none of the hassle.

Depending on how you do it. It can shuffle power around, not really lose it... Dual exhausts are for "V" engines. "I" engines use a single exhaust.. That's my .02, if you want dual exhaust on an "I" engine, use a system like he pictured but custom made for the chassis.

until it gets cold out and your exhaust is only visibly huffing from one-pipe.

If you dont want the other cut out, simply cut a patch panel out of some aluminum, expanded metal, or other easily worked metal. Temorarily attach it to your kit and start fiberglassing over it. Figerglass it till you're flush with the kit and sand it smooth. The BW rear kit is relatively boxy so it shouldnt be too much of an issue.

Or just buy two mufflers, some piping and bracket material and custom weld yourself a dual exhaust. As far as it losing power, it depends alot on your pipe sizes. If you run all 2 1/2" piping to dual exhausts then you'll lose power. Well, technically you'd be moving it to a higher RPM band, so you'll take off slow as anything. Keep the pipe diameter reasonable and you can run duals. Unless your boosted

False misconception. A dual will outflow a single anyday because of piping diameter volume and the ability to get rid of gases quicker. It also depends on the design if there are any hickups it can fuck the flow. My friends GS duals will flow equal to a 3" or 3.5" exhaust system. I forgot what he calculated it to but it went from 2.5 main to 2.25 dual out. Either way the tip idea is alright but as mentioned you will look ghetto in cold weather. Either way getting one custom made is the way to go IMO.

i just fitted a civic hatch exhaust on my 91 lx the s bend is the same and its almost long enough to fit right up to my down pipe. but it think with a little creativity you could get the teg exhaust to fit nicely. good luck and let me know how it goes. sometime in the future im going to put dual on my car.
