ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

For longevity and sheer (almost) indestructibility, go with a powdercoat!

You don't need high temp paint.

We've used anything from standard acrylic to textured craft paints to blackboard paint.

                      THANK YOU!

I've said this so many times on this board that i've given up, but i've based and cleared valve covers and brake calipers for years and never had a problem. YOU DONT NEED HIGH TEMP!!!!

for a valve cover you want to extend the life of what you have done, their is a strict rule to remember..

                        you are painting alluminum.
you are painting alluminum that gets pretty darn hot.

realize what alluminum does when it is hot.. it has pores that other metals do not have, if these have not been properly treated with correct chemicals and or primers it will have hairbubles that will trap gasses under the paint causing a flaking effect.

whats the worst that can happen it all melt or fall off...
                        do what you want..

but as you know i airbrush these all the time.. with verry High temp paint.. even this sometimes can fail if not correctly done.

notice arround the edge of the valve cover see how smooth that is,, i don't just paint them i sculpt them.. i love doing what i do it's my expression of art.

remember,, i tell you this,, because i only do quality work and have a reputation to keep with those who purchase what i sell.

sorry if this jacks the thread but..

how much would it cost to get a valve cover powdercoated?

and how about a exhaust heat sheild?

He is right. Not only do they look beautiful, they are tough finishes.
as far as cost, I think it depends where you go, and the color you want. the pic shows a mazda miata v.c. in yellow powdercoat.

And i think a header heatshiel might get too hot for a powdercoat.

I used high temp paint on my valve cover/heatshield on my Cb when I had it.

My current car has a powdercoated vc and it's not high temp. Although I do recommend using high temp on a heat shield, and they do have high temp powder in certain colors.
