ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

      armor all

Oh boy, laundry soap is a bad idea. Just buy some good old armor all carwash, it works great on my car, cheap too. Walmart has got lots of car cleaning goodies, armor all being one of the best from my experience. And try using miquires gold class paste wax once you've got your paint ready for waxing, that stuff is supposed to work magic, at least I've heard. Good luck getting your shine back man, shine is vital.

ps: check out what turtle wax did on my old chevy

Claybar owns > all. Takes a shit load of time but it brang back my paint. Before my car had quite a bit of overspray and didnt shine as much. But after using claybar and waxing it turned out 10x better.

I dont know if anyone mentioned this yet but from what I have learned soap detergents are degreasers at that, so when you wash your car with it you are actually slowly killing the clearcoat on your car. and in doing this for four years under hot weather would most likely result in the finish you have today. if you see these little rice looking cracks all over or a flaky chalk like white area then that means the clearcoat is starting to fail leaving your cars bare paint open for deterioration. if it gets to the point where its flaky though then ur only solution is repaint

OMG you have done a terrible terrible thing. Never EVER use dish soap or even worse laundry detergent to wash your car

Follow Type G's steps. Its a lot harder to keep the paint fresher looking on a white car like ours. You have to polish and wax white more often because it has the tendency to turn a slight yellowish color. You can wax over it and make the car shiny again but the only way to keep the yellow away is frequent polish and wax.....

You've got a lot of work ahead of you to get that car lookin proper again.

yea now i know this was a bad idea...then again i did this when i was 16 when i started driving the car...i was a pure NOOB going into the real world and didn't know much..but yeah thanks for the advices/suggestions..this will deff. help!...and i am going to repaint, same color. how much is an average repaint cost?

BTW, THIS should be a lesson to OTHERS if you just now got a cb..or basically a new car of your own.

The base substance in dishwashing soap is much stronger than typical car soap. That is why it is hard to remove tar and old dead bugs with regular car soap- but its done that way for a reason. Your dishwasher soap is extremely harsh and probably ate through the paint- when you use an electron microscope on a section of your paint, it will probably look like a sponge.

What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
