also my driver side window when it is rolled all the way up the window like shifts forward leaving a small open crack near the top left corner...have any idea on how i could fix this or what the problem is?

    thanks

is this a coupe or a sedan, which window? most window trim is screwed down or held on by clips, you can find the clips at your honda dealer, not sure on the price though

Has anyone actually figured out how to permanently fix the problem? I remember reading somewhere you had to remove the door panel and would then find the piece connecting the window to the motor. On the piece connected to the window would be a bolt you would tighten IIRC.(I'm in the middle of a search right now.)

The other method I've read about is cutting off 1/4" off the ends of the rubber window seal where it goes down into the door panel. I'm hesistant to do this because it seems unecessary and I'm not sure how it's supposed to fix anything.

Today I pulled out the rubber window seal(I have a sedan with automatic windows) and gave it a thorough cleaning. I'm not sure but it seemed to help, I'm going to go on the freeway later tonight and check for wind noise. My driver's side was the worst; it had wind noise on the freeway, and leaks in rain/washing. It didn't have an actual gap when rolled up, but it was clearly off track, and if you tried you could 'slide' it toward the nose of the car/rear. Pulling the rubber out is really easy, it takes some pushing and maneuvering to get it back in but it's not too bad. I just started at the top of the window, in the center, and pulled it out. I worked on it one half out at a time just to minimize the risk of pulling the entire window seal out(the portion that goes into the door.)

I was planning on doing some dissecting today and trying to figure out which bolt to tighten so I'll try searching ShopKey5. If I find it I'll let you guys know and post a picture or maybe even a DIY.

For the past week or so I've been trying to figure out what causes the windows to go off track but to no avail.. 10 hours of working on tightening and looseing bolts later and I was no better off than before(in fact I think I only worsened the gap). So the point is that it's probably not worth the frustration to take apart your door and everything. I ended up stripping most of the bolts that connected the window to the door so I had to make a trip to the junkyard and picked up some correctly sized nuts and bolts which held much better but I lost my toolcase at the yard .

My conclusion was that the window track itself is old(it's much like a cheap drawer runner, or the runner on a keyboard tray connected to your computer desk), and now wobbles after 15 years so I need to buy a new one, or four.

If anyone has solved this please share your secret, I know I'm not the only one plagued by it and I'm sure Honda will want to rape my wallet for a new track. If you want to try and adjust your own window go for it, I've been known to make mistakes.

At least I got some free bolts, emblems, and nuts from the jy. Picked up a grill for $11 and am now working on a DIY grill instead of letting the window aggravate me even more

i used to have that problem. when my regulator went bad i replaced the motor regulator and window seal i figured i might as well do it all at once and i got a good deal on the parts 50 bucks for all three brand new honda oe. anyways i dont have that problem anymore. i would guess it was the regulator mine was pretty well bent out of shape

I'm scared to even call Honda and ask what they want for a new regulator. It's been raining for the past few days and it's apparent that all four windows seal incorrectly now.. oh well, I guess it's gotta be done(along with the weather stripping). Plus they'll last for 10-15 more years

                            A Fix!

The other day my drivers side window finally stopped working. It was down about halfway and wouldn't go up or down under the window motors power. After pulling it up manually it stopped 1-2" from the top and simply wouldn't budge. Fearing the worst I prepared to go to my Honda dealer the next day and pay the hundreds of dollars for a new regulator and motor.

I sprayed some silicone lubricant I had laying around into the channels of the drivers side window just to see if it would allow me to pull the window up furthur(so it would shut). The next day I was driving and absent-mindedly tried to put my window down-to my surprise it moved just a little. So I tried putting my window up, and it moved a little more. After 5-6 tries my window was working better than it was before the problem. I didn't even have that little gap at the top that was so annoying before!

Cliffs: Lubricate your window channels and save yourself money on a new regulator/motor/channels. Be sure to use the right kind of lube(I've heard white lithium grease is good)

So honda still sells the channels? Im having the same problem, i tried to change the regu with some other ones but im still having the same problem, after moving the bolt on the left side up and down to see witch one worked leaving it down more would make it better.

do you know the best lube to clean the channels with ? my passenger side window is not going up nor down fast
