ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!
Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

go for it
i just recently got my cb painted at macco with a base coat clear coat and it came out nice unfortunately i am new to the site so i can't post any pics but i paid about 590 with a 2yr warranty so the second i see any kind of blemish they will be seeing me. but i would say go for it sometimes they have good half off sales thats when i got mine. Also if your car isn't black make sure they tape the mouldings unless u want them to match the car color. Fortunately mine is black so i just had them paint all of my mouldings....its looks very clean.... and even better the moulding won't fade unless the paint does.Last edited by cb7vtec; 08-30-2006, 08:55 PM.

My friend has gone back five times for them to correct his paint (all but the first time were free), but it still cracks and peels. Not worth it at all.Always remember that only you can make your dreams a reality.

I've seen $4000 "real" paintjobs that came out looking horrible... painted rubber, bubbles, overspray, orange peel... you name it.
Do the legwork in finding a GOOD Maaco, be sure to get their BEST painter, and you'd be surprised how good it can be. Not top quality, but well worth the price. Your car won't come out looking like CustomLowz's car, but it will come out looking pretty good.
Not the best pic, but this paintjob is about 7 months old... washed, then driven about 200 miles before the photo.
This one is almost exactly a year later... at sunset, and I don't think I washed it beforehand... but that's the best I can find (plus, I love that picture )

The cheap jobs are usually 6 months or something... Not too much in the way of warranty.
Another thing to add... I don't take very good care of my paint at all That's part of the reason why I wouldn't ever get an expensive job. I rarely wash it, and I've NEVER waxed my car... though I'd like to soon. The pictures above, especially the second one, show how well the paint held up with my negligance. The second one is about a year and a half after being painted. Probably washed 9 times in that period, if that. 2 years after the paint job was done, I took the car back to Maaco for another estimate (returning rust... they did a lousy job fixing that the first time... we shall see about the second time) the employee I spoke to was impressed with my 2 year old paintjob... and that was before I told him that it was previously done at his shop! (he didn't work there when I had gone the first time).

you're better off looking for someone that knows how to do body work and paint. maybe a buddy's friend, or just look all over the place. make sure they are reputable and ask for pictures of their work.
I know guys that work for the "professional" shops that do paint jobs on the side for cheap. and they come out very good. My good friend does these jobs and charges like 800 for everything, but that varies on the kind of paint job of course. he does great work too.
but if you can, do the body work yourself, just make sure you take your time with it. Prep work is something you should not rush since its the most important part in a paint job.
