ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    junkyarding for alloys

    hey everyone!

i've got steelies on my 90 DX coupe and i've been hopping from junkyard to junkyard in my area in search for a nice set to honda alloys. now, my question is, once i've found a set that i like (proper bolt pattern, appearance, and obvious cosmetic obscurities aisde ), is there anything else i should check or watch out for on these wheels before making a purchase? most of these cars have been sitting in the yard for a while and i'd imagine that, maybe, this extended time could warp the wheels? and also, i'd be sure to check tires on the wheels (if they're still there) to be sure they can hold air.

    some guidance, or advice, please?!

    thanks!
    My pictures/photos will return soon...

i dont think the wheels will warp cause their meant to be sat on like they are right now. oh and i would never use a tire from a junkyard. too much riding on that one

yeah, i plan on getting new tires

i was thinking maybe the EX wheels, or if not, the 5th gen accord alloys that have the same centercap as 4th gen alloys. theres also a del sol in the yard closest to me with its wheels still intact, nice shape too.. but i dunno if its the same bolt pattern. i know its 4x but i'm not sure if its 100 or 113.

I just picked up some 94EX alloys for $40 bucks each in perfect condition at a local salvage yard. I asked about the front lip and they said I had to buy the whole bumper. WTF

                ah man, that sucks!

around my neck of the woods, we've got a chain of yards called "crazy ray's." their slogan is "you pick it, you pull it!" - just like most yards. so customers have to bring their own tools and are free to take whatever they want from a car in their lot. they charge a $1 admission fee, and everything is priced fairly. it's fun. a lot of kids go there just to fuck around and break stuff.

we got the same thing down here but its called "U PULL IT" and are infested with CBs for some reason. I've never seen any with wheels or alloys, I htink they take them off and sell them separately. I just sold my 94-95 ex bronze alloys to a gut in NY for $300 shipped which was a good deal for him because I didnt have anywhere to store them.

Does "Crazy Ray's" have the alloy wheels still on the cars? Are there a lot of Honda and Acura cars there? Are spoilers still on them, or are they gone fast?

yeah, there are a lot of alloys on cars, and also scattered around the place holding other cars up

                          some spoilers.

and yes, a LOT of hondas, a decent selection of acuras. most of the CB7s are chewed up reeeeeeeeeally fast. i went today and bought a set of front/rear EX speaker grilles in PERFECT shape for $5. didn't find the type of alloys i was looking for, though.

Just take your time and hold out and chances are you'll find what you're looking for. I waited 2 years to find the Prelude seats I put in my car, but it was worth the wait.

Also check the classifieds here because every once and awhile you'll find a good deal.

You're lucky if the yards around you sell wheels cheap. The places local to me are cheap on most every part, and then want 120+ per wheel.
