ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Nah it aint the engine heat cause the damage is even worse by the sun roof and the boot, but on the sides its pretty much perfect

basicly your car is telling you i hate my color but you might just need to paint the hood the sam color by the peps that painted it pink in the first place

jeez, then why even ask for help if you dont wanna do anything about it? go ahead and let the damn thing rot to hell, i dont give a shit, im just trying to tell you what to do to prevent anything else from happening. yeah, primer may not be "cool" to you but its gonna protect your car better than that ugly shit so you make the call.

i thought ''just primer'' causes rust cause it holds water. wouldn't he need to apply a sealer then primer?

and if you say no, it already has sealer/primer ect in the OEM paint, then what good would primering over the old paint do? later.

Primer holds moisture as Type G said so its better to paint over it asap. Usually primer, sealer, base, then clear if i remember. Its been a while since ive been in body so a bit rusty on it. But I would just repaint the car if it was me.

the stock sealer should still be good, unless he has rust, but as far as i could tell all he's got is burned off clearcoat. And not all primer holds water, cheap pep boys rattle can primer hold water, anything better will protect for along time. The stuff i use is 2KYellow primer which acts as a rust inhibitor and will not hold water. while it is best to spray over primer as soon as you can, i would rather run around with a good coat of sprayed primer than clearcoat burn.

but i understand because so many "ricers" out there with gray rattle can primer that it is a little corny to do this, done properly primer will last for quite awhile.

oh, and sealer after primer is not necessary. 9 times out 10 factory sealer is almost always good.

Your clear coat is totally oxidized, and your color coat (the pink) is deteriorating with the cracks. What do YOU want to do? You could paint the whole car. You could let it stay the way it is and continue to oxidize until you have to paint the whole car. Waxing at this point will not bring it back. Keeping it garaged and waxed would have kept the paint lasting longer. But in your case, it is too late.

so i wil own up to being a noob. and i was wondering if it would be cool to prime yourself then let a pro finish the job.

Painting it now will prevent problems later.

just cuz u do the prep for Maaco doesnt mean that the job will come out good in the end. depends on the sprayer at Maaco. its a crapshoot.

Oh yea for sure but ive heard of them fucking up the prep and spraying decent and its shitty because they fucked up the most important part...prep...so thats why if i do the maaco thing, which i dont wanna mess with, im doing my own prep.
