ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    waxing the car

can you put on carnuba wax after you put on synthetic wax, or do u have to take the synteic wax all the way off...because I just put on syntheic wax about 2 months ago, and today I washed the car, and was wondering if I could wax the car again. Thanks
    Yeah, Preludes

You can put the carnuba on the synthetic. Some professionals do that to get the a rich deep finish as well as a bright shine.

2 months ago? Chances are your synthetic wax is almost gone anyways.

usually people put synthetic on top of carnuba as a ''topper.''
and you could wax your car every 2 months if you wanted to. later.

I used NXT which is synthetic and notice with a month or 2 that it started to bead less and retain more crap. No more. Mother's or Griots. I haven't found anything that beats them.

TypeG is right on the money. I haven't been on CB7tuner long, but just from hours of browsing, you won't find anyone with a better rep for keeping sh!t clean and nice.

                FWIW, I :
                wash
                clay
                polish with a buffer(if needed)
                seal
                wax

Sealing it will have a lasting effect(12) months.

Amazing what this can do to a 13 year old car!!!!

                    Yep.

                    www.griots.com
                    www.mothers.com

Mothers is easier to find(for me) and less expensive. I think they even have a forum over there.

wash - any mild car soap. They also make some suitable for stripping old wax from the paint. Otherwise dishsoap will also remove your wax for you.

clay - the clay bar removes leftover wax, oxidents, and other general crap from your paint and make it super smooth and clean. I use the mothers claybar/carnuba kit.

polish with a buffer(if needed) - I actually have Meguire's for this. It comes in varying degrees of 'grit'. I use it for swirl marks and scrathes that don't hit the primer. A 7-9' rotary buffer is a must. Porter Cable makes a nice one.

seal - Sealer will help "fill" light swirls and scratches. If you can't dedicate much time to detailing your car monthly, you would benefit from a sealer. I live in Mn and we have harsh, salty/sandy winters. This helps.

wax - Make it pop! Provides some protection and more shine!

The steps listed above are very time consuming. However, it seems to get easier every time you do it after the first. Is worth it? What is your car worth to you?

I just got my cb-9 a few weeks ago. I seriously think it hadn't been washed or detailed in maybe 5 years. I hit it hard over the course of a few days. I made a dent. I still have alot to touch up but at least I can just wipe things clean instead of scrub. Its never done.

                    Good luck!

to add to the sealer part, the guy at mother's said you can put up to 3 layers of sealer and glaze on paint before you stop noticing at difference.

so i tryed it on my rims after i used their clear coat wheel polish. after the 2nd coat of S&G, i could see a difference and then added a 3rd, then wax. i could see reflections in the reflections. later.

great thread thanks for the info guys been a bit perplexed at what all I was gonna do for detailing. I do have a question of my own. Is the new synthetic turtle wax "ICE" any good? For years all my dad used was turtle wax and I know it's pretty decent. Not sure if I've seen 'Mothers' I'll have to look more closely cause I've looked over the dif. brands trying to decide and it's not ringing a bell...

Mother's is everywhere. Maybe you haven't noticed because the packaging is pretty low key. Usually just a red box.
I hear that turtle wax has a good carnuba. I am through with synthetic waxes.
I don't get near the results.

                          Good luck.
