ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Really a nice hook-up you got there. I'd love to hook my car up like that with red lights but I don't feel that comfortable working with circuits yet. Doesn't seem to much of a hassle though.

      ...adjust accordingly

The same reason they used fusible links. For fusible links a section of wire which was 4 sizes smaller than the wire of the circuit it was protecting was used. So that in case something happened, it would be the smaller wire that burned up and NOT your wiring harness. Everyone knows how car engineers work and like to hide wires under things, so just to change ONE wire you might have to rip apart half the car. I don't like doing the extra work for no reason, so i'd just leave the fuse alone.

While fuses have replaced fusible links, we must also remember that many fuses are selected based on the components in the circuit. Is that the right way to select a fuse? No. But it is done all too often in automobiles. I am pretty confident that a higher-amperage fuse could be used in this case. Of course, that doesn't mean a 50 amp fuse should be thrown in there, but it should be safe to bump it up 5 amps if necessary. If you disagree, then please look up the load rating of those wires, and let us know.

cut the clips (the cpomputer power ones) and wire the black wire coming from the inverter to a commin ground and the red wire coming from the switch to a power source.

Why are we inverting the power supply again? PC lights typically hook up to the 4pin IDE molex connectors which are 12V DC natively... Beyond maybe a little filter to clean the circuit of noise, I don't understand the point of an inverter...

The inverter boosts the voltage up to 120VAC

The PC lights typically come with an inverter also.

For me, this is one of those things where actually going out and doing it made it make more sense than planning it out before hand which is what I usually do...
The Molex connector is 12V and 5V the red is the 5Volt so you can cut that one. The reason you need the inverter is because a computer runs off 12V and the Cathode, according to the packaging, steps up the 12V to like 320V.
                              So.... Yeah.... there you go.
Why? Because... Life Happens @ 4500 RPM
