What Can I Get And What Is The Best Light Output Possible? What Size Bulbs Do I Need ?

Real HID's are pretty expensive, the setup i mean...ballast, projector, making it fit... etc. etc.
What you can opt for are the HID wannabe lights, or hyper whites.
You want to get bulbs that range from 4k to 5k. Those are really nice, white with hints of blue...
Check the Kelvin Scale...
Nissan Maxima's have Xenon HIDs which are really white/purple. Their output is well over 8000k Kelvin...
Look for Raybrig, they make OEM Stanley lights...

Alot of HID conversion kits are bogus. Tryin to convert into a real HID lighting system is more than just bulbs and electrical conversion. Just cus the light is brighter doesnt mean its better. Do you homework and get the right info.

Yo H23Accord your retro headlights is off the hook. Do you have any pics of your retro while in the proses of being made. I wanna know what to cut in order for the projectors to fit. I'm pretty sure I can figure out the rest.

That graph posted shows it pretty well, but if you go up higher they start getting a really nice purple/blue tint. Mine are 10000k in my JDM 1 piece headlights. I love them, and getting imitation bulbs isn't even close to the real thing. You can't see them too well, but I have them turned on in the pic in my sig... i wanna put some of the HIDs from the newer maximas on something.....they stand out on crowded highways......they're unique, nice color, but the output is awesome too...and they don't produce as much glare as anything i've seen either....and on the 7th day, deevergote rested and called his mom.Comment

No, what SteveB said was right. The usable light is decreased, but luminosity is increased. Luminosity is proportional to Temperature^4 so it greatly increases with temperature. I'm pretty sure useable light actually decreases after about 7000k not 4300k.Originally posted by H23AccordComment

I disagree. If you look at lumens as temperature increases you will see that lumens decreases. The 4100-5000k area is somewhat debateable and constantly argued as far as what's best. I say this because I have looked at several different Kelvin graphs and they are not all stating the same ranges of color for the same kelvin levels. So having said that, working with the rest of the spectrum, outside the debateable "grey area" of 4100k-5000k, lumens decreases. Some have felt that usable light has increased with the color but again I think this plays in the grey area only.
