ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I did this a while back and I took it off after 3 days lol
For regular street driving, it was great!
But whe it came to racing, I just ground gears
Took it off and no more ground gears and first place finishes!

My tranny already has a pretty short throw, aswell as a VERY short side to side.

          solid
          fun
          cheap

          Cons:rubs interior of center console
          cheap

overall, worth it if your a cheap ass like myself lol. i think this will do until i work on something a little nicer like a prelude setup or forbidden shifter if i can find one.
if you attempt this, make sure to buy fender washers so the cable wont slip off the rubber bushing, that happened to me while i test drove it.
          enjoy.
I believe if you "flip the bucket" it will lower it so that there is no rubbing.

I'm at work so I can't search through the images to find the thread detailing that specifically, I believe that is the one that shows it though

Ah that would make it much easier!
My shifter was really stiff, I was able to keep it from rubbing by flipping over the "adapter" and bolting the cable on the other side of the stick.
But as I said, it failed lol
Ill try flipping the bucket and putting it back on

Can others verify this? In the past I read that this mod will cause you to grind gears when trying to shift fast and in the long run you may grind more than needed causing problems down the road. So can y'all try quick shifting and let us know if you're grinding?

                        From another post I found:

"Hey, I did this today and it works well. Just one thing though. Since the shift lever now doesn't move as far, it no longer hits the bump stops. So for those of you who shift hard (i.e. jam it into gear hard), there is a possibility of breaking the shift linkage in the tranny. Just a heads up "

[edit] ; i get it now as the following can happen with short shifts:
" in most cases with a short throw shifter you can physically move your arm and change gears faster than you can move the clutch in or out and when that happens you can grind your tranny and fuck up your syncros or in more extreme cases loose a gear i.e when you are cranking on it".

tell you what...I'll try to flip the bucket and install the lowes shifter. I have the parts but haven't had the time. I was going to figure out why my jacked stereo that I was re-installing wasn't working...but I'll give this another go too.

I'll let y'all know what I find. I already have 3rd gear crunch when I shift quickly...which is why I don't shift fast into 3rd. If I find the shifting is more crunchy or not I'll post up I've got today off so should have time...but might not...trying to get a house too...time is limited

just finished this mod but its like $9 from lowes now but anyway the only difference i did was take the 4 bolts that hold down your shifter plate(dont really know what its called) and took out the spacers. now it sits lower and does not rub. also i cut the bolts(that go on to the new lowes racing short shifter) down so i can get into 5th and reverse. so far it works.....
