ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Question about +38 offset on our cars

So I scored a new set of Enkei ER01's which are 16x7 with a +38 offset. I've done extensive reading on the forum, and have decided upon 205/50/16 tires to mate with the rims, based upon the fact it's just about right on with the stock 195/60/15 profile in terms of filling up the wheelwells (want to keep it at half finger all around as well as maintain speedometer calibration).

Now, I read several of the suspension threads, and I observed mention about ITR rims (which are also +38 offset) requiring a 5mm spacer in order to clear the calipers? Is this the case in each corner for those of us with stock 4 wheel abs and not just those with front wheel disc brakes (thus (4) 5mm spacers)?

I also read about El having to utilize 5mm spacers due to his +38mm rims having the tire rub the knuckle. I'm just confused right now.

Cuz Primocb7 didn't mention anything about using spacers on his old +38 offset setup. So is it just dependent upon the particular rim/spoke design as to weather you'll have caliper/knuckle clearance issues...or are there other factors? I'm not talking at all about fenderwell clearance, as that doesn't concern me (I'll be running a bit of negative camber all around). Again, I have 4 wheel abs all around, so just wondering if I'll definitely need spacers with these rims?

    Thanks for the help.

+38 is not a big deal.

i never ran a spacer because i had to, but because i chose to. i never had anything rubbing. timmy0tool had a rubbing issue, but his wheel was a very high offset (+50 or higher). perhaps you're referring to someone else...

they're (itr wheels) usually used with a spacer secondary to the spoke design and backspacing (or lack thereof). the other option is to shave down the caliper.

cb7 owners don't talk about spoke design or backspacing (thin, mid, or thick) because 99.999999% of cb7 owners don't buy wheels with custom widths and/or offsets, or deal with big brake kits while trying to push the limits of width and offset.

you won't know until you put the wheels on the car and see if the caliper clearance works. my guess is that you won't need spacers.
