ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

It fits just fine and sturdy enough to last if nothing is hit. But just tapping on the new bodykit sounds so hollow and cheap i just want to deaden the sound and make it sound more like part of the car.

Ya, they probably just layered enough glass to make the part, but not enough to create a durable, rigid piece. When you spend a lot of cash on a good kit, and a good mold is used, you get that awesome fit and finish with minimal work to do right out of the box. They will also pile on the layers of glass to make a strong part. Cheaper kits require much massaging to enhance their fit, finish, and overall durability.....

It is going to be up to you since we can't see it in person. The trunk might have been re-painted before. Hard to tell without seeing it... But, use a clay bar and some type of finishing glaze. If your still not happy, save up for a Quality Paint Job...

                      Bunch of questions:

The other day I had a body shop mix me up a can of Capucchino Brown, since I'm pretty sure duplicolor doesn't carry that color. It's a single stage (i forgot to ask for a two stage i guess). I'm just using this can to cover my rust fix, but can i put clear coat on top of that to make it more durable? Or is that just pointless.

Also, I'm going to need to replace my broken bumper cover soon. If i go back to the bodyshop will he be able to mix up a can with flex additive? Or can it be sprayed on after or something? It just sucks that i had to spend $15 on a can of single stage paint that i'll only be using to cover 1'x1' total.

You should be able to clear over it, but you'll need to check to see if the clear is compatible..... Also, there is usually a limit to the amount of time between base and clear coats, make sure to reference the company for this info.

$15 is dirt-cheap. The last pint of paint I bought was $55, it was PPG. The flex additive is normally added when the paint is reduced (with the applicable thinner) for application, not before hand.

$15 is dirt cheap. There are alot of ways to paint a bumper. I just tell you how we do it at my shop. But just rember Always follow the directions per requested by the manufacturer of the products your using. The process for painting plastic bumpers at my shop is simple.

                          1) BULLDOG * Buy a quart, Says right on the can. Makes Paint Stick To Plasic Bumpers*

                          2) Base Coat *We use Du-Pont Chroma Base = Top notch Quality*

                          3) Clear Coat *Du-Pont, the clear is what makes or breaks a paint job*

You can always fix imperfections after you have shot the flex addative, using spot putty 400 & 1000. But if you sand too much add some more Bulldog. If you can't paint yourself then make sure you go to a reptuable shop. Simply ask them what they use to paint bumpers, they should be able to answer all your questions...

So I just bought a pint of PPG base Silver-Arrow Metallic for my brother's Nissan, $59. I will be painting this week finally after over 25 hours of body work on the front bumper repair and the new metal support bracing. I will post pics after the work is completed..... I have a TON of pics.
