ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    new wheels + tires

I'm getting a new set of wheels and tires.
I have these nice bb3 mirror polished wheels, but don't wanna see em get messed up so I'm gonna stuff em in the corner of my garage or maybe sell em if the price is right.

I like these but I don't like the 2 step lip

these are REALLY nice but they are 17's.

Don't wanna forfeit mpg's nor do I wanna pay a buttload for tread when it comes around. Which brings up my next rant..
    new tires.
Can't go wrong for $200 a set + good reviews, I'll buy two sets at that price!
    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
    or
17" tires that are $276 a set + good reviews...
    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
Yes I have a $ limit or I'd buy a set of BBS RS on Hoosier A6's.
I REALLY like the look of the 17's with that nice lip and how it fills up the fender/tire gap, but would rather have the 15's for the fact that it less unsprung weight, tires are cheaper,
15's came stock on the car so why not keep em that way and $45 cheaper per wheel and $20 cheaper per tire.
Only reason why I'm buying a new set of wheels is because I want that aggressive look of a wider stance and the more proper look of sitting flush.
I figured a +20 or +25 offset should do the trick, if not I have two sets of 5mm wheel spacers sitting around.
Main reason why I bring this up is because I would like your input.
15's or 17's? and.. as you can see the direction of wheel look I am shooting for, are there any other companies out there other than STR that have the right look and the right price? trying to stay under $500 on a new set of wheels.
    thank you.

Neither tire is going to give amazing performance, but both are quality. Fuzion is made by Bridgestone, and Sumitomo has been around for a LONG time (they make other things as well... including our OEM sparkplug wires, which are quite possibly the best wires we can get for our cars.)

The Sumitomos will probably give superior performance, but with a shorter lifespan and worse fuel economy (you'll get that from stickier tires.)
The Fuzions will probably last longer and give better mpg, but they won't have much grip.

I have no personal experience with either brand, however. I have friends that love Sumitomo. I've also avoided Fuzion in the past based solely on their ricer-focused advertising (never on any negative reviews, though.)

I don't really need great performance tires since they will be mounted to a 121'ish horse power or so slush box grocery getter.
The fusions and the sumi's are the cheapest that tirerack has to offer for both 15's and 17's. I'm not ripping it up on the track or even getting aggressive on the streets so why have a quiet gas saving tire or a grippy tire when I never go faster than 70mph nor do I stray farther away than 25 miles from where I live. I'm staying away from ultra high performance summer tires. I'm more for all seasons, being in the NW and all..

In that case, go for the Fuzions. The Sumitomos are about as high performance as you can get in an all-season tire.

I love Sumitomo's I have 2 LST touring on my CD5 they cost me less then $160 new mounted and balanced. Good grip, quiet, seem good in rain as well no snow yet to see about winter performance but still good tires IMHO

Something to consider is the Sumitomo's are directional, the Fuzions are not.
