ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    acura legend dash swap

Ok so I was off work today and I went to a jy to look for some parts. I found some cool stuff that I will be going back for the coolest thing is an acura legend dash with the little pop up door in the center on top of the dash, I want to know if anyone has done this ( a dash swap) i have seen some dashes but they were heavily modified and fiberglassed together. Are there any threads about what dashes might work without having to be cut up and glassed together.
I will most likely get the dash i saw and see how it works out but any info would be helpful. I search the web for info as my phone wont let me use the search in the forum and most things i look up on the web bring me to this site anyway.
Not a whole lot of info on dash swaps for our cars.

The dash i found looks like it would fit without modification. I am looking for information on dashes that do not need heavy modification. Would much rather find a direct bolt in dash or just one that is in need of only light modification.

Well that dash was designed for that car. Take measurements and compare those measurements to the measurements of the cb. If it was a direct swap it would've been done before...just saying.

Have you thought about the 93 SE sedan dash swap.

It looks slightly different. But no new cluster.

            The '93 SE sedan only.

Now i have done a little more research and i have found that the first gen legend is basically a cb unless my information is wrong which it maybe please correct me if im wrong i hate having misinformation. If this information is right could someone please tell me why the first gen legend dash would not work.

They are similar yes, but a 1st gen legend basically being a cb is not true. They are two completely different cars, with the 1st gen legend being based off of a design by Rover. However, this does not mean you can't do a dash swap. But, like with every dash swap, you will need to do some custom work.

Why do you want to do this anyways?

I am toying with ideas for stereo placement. I want to install the odyssey nav system where the stereo goes and from what i can tell i will lose the stereo so i need to figure out some place to put a stereo. I saw the first gen legend dash and it has a pop up door in the center at the top of the dash and looked like a cool place to mount a stereo. Also i like the placement of the e-break handle in the center console better.

Replacing the dash is quite an undertaking. It is not so bad if you are ditching the hvac. Look for wherm's prelude dash swap to get an idea of the work required.

Well the SE dash has a pass. Side airbag that will be useless, so you could use that to Hold the stereo. As in make a custom tray where the airbag would go. You could even hide it and have the "airbag" hydraulically come up to display the stereo or navigation. I've been wanting to do this with a tv.

The idea came from my dads old van. His van had a secret compartment in the headliner that when you push a hidden button,The compartment hydraulically came down to show the radar detector.

Why is the SE sedan passenger side airbag useless? It uses the same impact sensors as the '91-'93 wagons and '92-'93 sedans and coupes. As long as you have the control module and wiring harness, you're fine. Unless of course the OP has a '90-'91 sedan or coupe in which case it's moot.

Just wondering why would I want a stereo or a nav screen on the passenger side of the car where I can't reach or easily see it? That would not seem to be the smartest move. I have my original idea of mounting a stereo down low in front of the shifter and lose the ashtray and cup holders ( the cup holders dont really work for me) . I planed on using a Del sol center console piece that has the flip up radio door to hid it and i think I will stick to that idea for now and when i find an se dash I will be sure to get everything to make the airbags work.
