What is your headlight lighting setup? (9006, HID, etc.)

Hey guys, I really hate the yellowness of our stock 9006 bulbs, and I want a straight white color, a tad bit of blue is okay but I understand that any hint of blue, etc will be bad for 9006 bulbs and that white will be best. I was going to get sylvania ultras but I've seen multiple pictures and videos where these bulbs still look very yellow. PIAA is expensive and they don't have good reviews on amazon, but if anyone has any experience with them, I'd be fine to get them if they don't appear yellow and last a decent amount of time. I also thought about Nokya stage 1's, but apparently they don't give off enough light. HID kit's are the best bang for the buck, but I never want to spend so much on projectors. A lot of people run HID's without them, but how much glare is there on CB7 headlights? There are threads like this around, but from what I've searched, I haven't gained enough information yet so please post your lighting setup and how it is, thanks.

The only bulb I found that got rid of the yellow was silverstars. They didn't last long. So I found catz bulbs a long time ago that were like 4800k. They were nice.

          Currently on my ride:

          93 cb7-Morimoto projector h1 5k
91 cb7-E39 BMW projectors and 4300k bulb. ----->soon ill sell this. Going to do a different projector.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

          Retro!

I don't remember what I have now, I was running Sylvania Hyper-whites (I think, they are the model right below the Silverstars) in high and low. I had them for about six months before the both low beams died at the same time. I'm not sure how old they were, they were in a set of used headlights I had. They actually were white even.

I'm going to an HID conversion, I have a set of Lexus SUV HID reflectors that are the same size as the OEM low beam reflectors. Not sure what I'll do for high beams, probably just keep running Hyper-whites or similar

              Infiniti j30 lowbeams retrofit

Xenon slim hid kit with 6000k

They are large projectors and shroud less ATM.

I like the large projector size factor, they barely fit haha.

Beam is nice and clean as long as you extend the projector housing with aluminum to accommodate the larger hid bulbs for proper reflection.

The projectors are standard halogen converted to hid.

Best bang for the buck if you have the time and tools.

              $30 for hids
$40 for j30 quad projectors, only low beams used. Hi beams might be converted to fogs when I have the chance
$20 in waterproof sealant and glue

$200 in a high quality dremel, not necessary but I figured I would use it for more custom work and future rear quarter fender repair

Think your answer is projector retrofit. I'm brighter than everything on the road. And I'm not wildly reflecting light in every direction.

Before i did the retrofit i had silverstar bulbs and didn't notice a difference at all over cheaper bulbs. I couldn't see crap in the rain with those. Projectors fixed that.

Nokya's used to be really popular, but yeah the light input is not so much better than OEM. Nice little cheap upgrade if you don't want the OEM "yellow" lighting but I cannot comment on how long they last.

I have a Morimoto H1 with 4300 bulbs and Morimoto 3 five ballast.
I tried the one step up from the silverstars. And didn't notice much. This setup is the shit. Bright as hell and lights up the road.
I've had this for about 4 months, Never had the need for high beems until last night. Holy damn It was like the sun was out.
This retro wasn't the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

Quashish was dead on And I feel the exact same way.

                      JDM 1 piece headlights
5000k 35W standard Xentec HID kit
very very white and brightest i have owned
High beams are 55W yellow bulbs 3k pretty much doubles light output with the lows on.
My advice is buy a Xentec HID kit off of ebay 30-40 shipped
my ballasts have lasted right at 4 years and bulbs usually last 6 months i just order seperate bulbs every time. I have had all the colors of the hid spectrum and i'd go with 5k being the best so far.

If I had a second go at a retrofit, retrofit source or the like is where if shop.

It's a pita to line up your lowbeams to your hi beams and not to crossbeams.

The real retrofits are so easy a kid can do it.

Hids are the way to go, it's amazing.

People are still naive to the fact that retrofitting an older car is one of the most rewarding mods.

                        Sex appeal and safety!!!

I try to avoid off the shelf halogen bulbs even silver stars.

Once you go hids you will never turn back.

^ "will never turn back"... so true. My CB had TSX projectors with Morimoto 5000k/3Five HID. The output was epic (compared to being nearly afraid to drive on the freeway at night with my stock-blackhoused lenses), so I'm dying to do a similar setup on my RSX soon.

"Sex appeal," My front end did look pretty sweet reflected in the back of the next car while sitting at a light!

I almost forgot, I have a set of the cheap eBay chrome housing projectors. The patterns suck and the mounting tabs on the low beams melted so they're aimed like 10 feet in front of the car. I'm going to black out the chrome and I have a set of 2014 Corolla LED low beam projectors and 2011 Jetta high beam reflectors I'm retrofitting for my coupe and the Lexus converted OEM's are going in the sedan
