    Certifit Replacement Parts

Has anyone bought bumpers, headlights, hoods, etc from Certifit for your CB7? I heard their parts don't fit quite well and is sometimes off by a little. Please, anyone out there, if you have bought parts from Certifit let me know how it fits on your car. I'm thinking about replacing front and rear bumper and possibly some other parts as well. But I just want to hear some feedback from them for CB7's before I start buying away. Thanks a bunch.

**Pictures will help very much if you have something you want to address.

    Sortafit.

I have a hood. It fits. It's cheap. The metal is considerably thinner than stock, and it dents easily. It was worth it for the price, but it's not OEM quality.

Aftermarket parts are off from OEM. Meaning the fender, hood etc can't be identical to OEM, if they are Honda could sue them. So they could be 1/16 shorter, 1/16 longer on the other side. I've used them and most people can't tell. Also as deevergote said they are thinner and do easily dent.

I stayed away from Certifit; "you get what you pay for" ringing in the back of my head.

I tried LKQ for CAPA certified front and rear covers for my 90. The front seems to fit OK, but the rear did not - it was like it shrank out of the mold, it was short in every dimension and warped along the sides. I complained and they replaced it with a remanufactured OEM cover (they were about the same price if I remember correctly). I looked at it before I had it painted; I couldn't tell where it had been "remanufactured" other than having the paint stripped off.

I used them on my friends mustang when he wrecked the right front corner. I laughed when Deev called em "Sortafit" because thats exactly what I remember thinking.

Patents are only in affect for 20 years, so the fender, all the same from 1990-93, and the patent was filed probably 2 years before so it has been at most 24 years. What you said could be the case, but I think it is cheap quality standards.

Have to agree with the "sortafit". I have an uneven gap on both sides between the fender and the hood down the car. difference is 1/4in. to 1/8in.

Thought it could be the fenders but I put the old dented hood back on and the gaps? None they just weren't there........ it was even all the way from the back of the fender to the headlight.......go figure...

I installed a front bumper on a 2001ish Civic for a friend from Sortafit and whilt it wasn't awful and she was fine with the results, it definitely didn't fit great.

I went through Rock Auto for replacement fenders for my '93 Xtracab and even though I sprung for the CAPA certified fender, they fit wasn't 100%. The CAPA certification definitely helped as far as fit goes though, it was only in a few small locations did it differ from stock. I feel like if I were to have spent the time to shim the fenders and do a little bodywork, I could have been pretty dead on. Since it was a beater truck, the fact they weren't rusted was more than sufficient for me.

For any nice vehicle, I think I'd try and source an OEM replacement.

Don't forget that fitment is very strongly dependent on the installer. It's absolutely amazing how much just a tiny adjustment to one area of the hood (4 bolts, 2 bumpers, the latch, and the latch mounting bolts) can effect fitment.
When i got a carbon fiber hood, I thought the thing was warped. Turns out I just didn't adjust it properly. After 45 minutes and lots of colorful language, I managed to make it fit properly.

Go to your local wrecking yard and get OEM. You'll probably pay less and it is a sure fit.

                    RIP my last two CB7s.

Most of the LKQ, both CAPA (insurance required) and non (our own projects), parts we've used at work fit just as well as OEM (we have had a problem with 02ish accord hoods before). I had an EG hatch I put non-CAPA hood, fenders, and bumper on with no fitment problems even with a damaged core support. Other than fender liners (not the greatest fit, but only cost me $7 each) I haven't used anything like that on a CB though

I see. It's probably not the best idea to purchase them then. I will just have to patiently wait for upull to have a unmolested Cb7 available for me then. Thanks for the input guys.
