ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

As mentioned, Koni Sports (yellow) get you three options, all around. Sleeve kits generally get you infinite options independent of your strut, just like true coilovers. I don't think anyone is suggesting you get true coilovers though, and I believe most would suggest you stick with a sleeve kit on an aftermarket strut (like the Koni Sports or STR.Ts struts with a Ground Control sleeve kit).

Deev suggested Koni STR.Ts with H&R springs; I'm tempted to go this route in the near future as I already have STR.Ts up front and am in need of new springs all around.

Eibach, the springs that come with the Ground Control kits, have lifetime warranties against failure and sag, so there's benefit to them as well. Other manufacturers may have the same warranty, too, I don't know.

Finally, if you have access to a welder and other equipment, you can always move the spring perch on most any strut.

NEVER weld on a shock body. Compressed Gases and High Heat don`t mix.

I was thinking of getting the Oranges, but I decided to hold off and get the Yellows because of the perch adjustment.

Oh darn, good point. They are compressed gas, aren't they? Any strut that is oil filled is likely going to already have the adjustability you're after. I suppose you could always drain the strut and refill it (gas charged or not), but that's probably more hassle than it's worth. Thanks for noting this!

i would also suggest getting the ground control coil sleeves, that or cutting a coil or 2 from the front springs. which i would not recommend

sounds more like youre "trying to go lower" because the ass end is lower than the front, you got the konis already, just get you some H&R sport springs, after they break in along with the perch on the 3rd clirclip notch you will have a decently lowered car that rides well and when push comes to shove they get down.

With a good pair of ajustable coilovers you can slam it all the way down to the ground [IMG][/IMG]

A lot, if not most of the users on this board are concerned with safety over anything else. Cutting the springs, even a fraction, means you have made the car as a whole that less safe. If you don't mind taking a risk, at least keep in mind the other drivers on the road.

He has Koni STR.T... they're not Yellows. They're not made to go very low. I wouldn't go any lower than it is on those shocks.

Cutting a spring, any part of it, is very dangerous. Don't do it. I'm glad to see so many other members saying that same thing!

If you want to go lower, look into a set of Function and Form Autolife coilovers. They're reasonably priced, and they offer a decent ride.

Good point. I think I'm just going to sell the car and start over or raise the back up a tad. Thanks for the information and tips.

Sell the car? That makes no sense.

Your suspension isn't adjustable, how do you plan on raising the back?

Just replace your Koni oranges with yellows. Then you will be able to adjust your front a little lower (or set the back higher). You can then sell your old Konis to make up for some of the bread you had to spend.

                                +1.

I am assuming you drive the car everyday?
If you didnt, Id say put her up on stands. Take the old set up off, sell it on here. I just advised a kid to buy used if your looking for a cheap drop. Profit, and buy F&F Type Ones.
