ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    91 cb7 rust

Hello! I drive a 91 Accord EX and I am new to the forum, a friend told me about it after I mentioned i also drive a cb7. I've had this car for a year now, and I would like to fix this rust up, and make the car look nice, but the issue is I know nothing about doing so. My question i guess, is should i take it to a shop to get this fixed up? I love the car and don't want to part with it. Most people say its not worth it to fix up the rust on my car, but i want to, and i want to make it look nice, and also get it painted. Also, if i take it to a shop, anyone know a price estimate just from what you see here?

    Ahhh!

You have fender cancer! To best repair that you need to find a decent one in the JY cut the affected (infected) areas out and then reweld them on your car after cutting the cancer out.

If you can cut/weld repaint it yourself it is worth it.

It will cost more than the car is worth to have a shop do this, but there is no price on sentimental values.

In the long run, I love my Honda and will repair it until I can't anymore. By then it will save me thousands in insurance and new car payments.

Here's a link to some nicely priced replacement quarters

      http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-Accord...0083dc&vxp=mtr

I bought a set like these and had a shop do them with paint for 1600$ It saved a life!! Call around to some local shops, theres likely going to be a place willing to do it for a price around there or possibly lower

Wanna see something really scary? This will give you an idea of what is involved, whether you attempt it or take it to a shop.

What fleetw00d is doing would be absolutely great! haha but if it is your daily, I would not recommend doing that. I fixed mine myself for a total cost of under $500. Here are some of the stuff I had to do in order to fix it.

My MRT has more pictures and the final work as well. Good luck with the rot repair as well!

Fleet do you have any updates on the cb7? Last I saw was you got it painted.

Yes, this will be my DD once back together, but I wanted to do it right because as it says in my original post, I have to keep the car forever.

How much more up to date do you want? It was just painted yesterday! They are supposed to repair the rust hole in the right front wheel well this morning, then put the hood and trunk back on. I should be able to pick it up this evening or tomorrow morning (depending on my ride situation to get there).

Would this work for a 2 door? Can't find these anywhere specifically for 2 door, only 4.

I'm not sure it will fit 100% but I know they sell coupe panels somewhere, I remember seeing a link for it on a thread.

Since this car is your DD, that will probably present some limitations in the extent of what you can do. I would remove the rear bumper molding so that you can get a clear view of the damage under/behind the molding. You could drive the car this way, although it's not a pretty site.

I can see from your photos that your under-structure is not quite as deteriorated as many Accords are. The sign here is that the wrap-around part of the bumper molding is still being held in correct position instead of hanging down - a common site with older Accords - as you can see on the photo below of my 91 Accord.

I bought a panel like the one on eBay posted by Oisse for the right side. I'm going to have a nearby welding shop weld it in; this shop specializes in frame restoration of old cars. Otherwise, you'll probably need to find a regular body shop to do the welding.

To get the bumper molding off, I had to drill out the fasteners plastic or nylon that hold it to the car. You might be able to get them off by turning with a screwdriver; I could not. The drill technique worked; it did no damage to the molding or the holes under the molding where the fasteners connect to the molding support structure.

I'm doing some underneath repair myself. I discovered that water and crud was being thrown up into the trunk through a hole on the left side, and perhaps the right side. Now, I have the trunk liner on the right side removed so that I could clean up the crud and have access to the floor there and do some repair. I'm using Bondo Body Filler there. See photo below:

soybean, I hope that is only temporary. It isn't going to last.

                        And, why won't it last?

because you covered the hole with body filler.... We all know body filler absorbs water/moister and even if you paint it, the existing rust will just continue to spread.... body filler is only supposed to be used to level minor surface imperfections. Not used as clay to mold things.

Soybean, did you look at the "Rescuing Ruby" thread? That is a more appropriate way to deal with the rust damage you have (not just because it is my thread). Looks like you even have almost the same car.
