ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Fixing headlight and grill alignment

I believe a previous owner had a minor passenger side front end accident. The grill is in good condition from the junk yard, all bolts and attachments are in good. This is how the lights and grill sit on the passenger side.

I replaced the small crossmember by the radiator with a good condition one from the junk yard, but that didn't fix the issue. The last picture is with the new crossmember installed.

This piece looks bent, you can see the bend by where the fender attaches.

How can I fix this? How hard is it to replace the piece that is bent from the last photo? It looks like a huge piece... I tried to find information about it in the Helms manual, but I couldn't find anything (I looked for about an hour before posting). Should I just take a hammer / mallet to it? There is a clean one I can pull from the junk yard, but I'm not sure if that piece is even removable, and if so how big it is, or how important it is to structural integrity. I saw a post on here where it looks like someone had removed it while doing other work, but I can't find it anymore.

    Thoughts? Thanks!

You need to unbend the radiator support. Nothing even bolts to that little crossmember so that was never going to fix the problem.

I agree with Austin. Take everything off and see what you're working with. You'll need the grill, headlights corners and bumper out of the way to all of the metal underneath.

My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

You think that's the best option? Is it possible to replace that piece instead?

Actually, the grill, hood release, radiator mount, and A/C support bracket bolt to that crossmember. The crossmember was bent, as seen in the photo, and the grill mounts to it. I figured it was worth a shot at fixing the grill alignment. But you're right, it didn't fix like I was hoping. It is clean and unbent though, worth the $5 I got it for.

Awesome fellas, thanks for the link! I won't be getting to this for a little bit, but I'll share photos if anyone's interested.

To replace it would require rewelding. Yours is only minorly bent. All you need is something to grab the top and pull it forward. on that side.
