ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Ground Control is indeed the ONLY sleeve I would ever trust... though honestly, I prefer non-adjustable springs to adjustable sleeves. I do not have the knowledge, tools, or need to PROPERLY adjust the height of a car... and while it may look fine, an improperly set-up adjustable suspension system can cause a car to become unbalanced in an emergency situation.

Anyway, the only struts that are capable of handling anything but a VERY mild drop (such as less than 1.5" and no stiffer than 15% over stock springs...) would be Koni Reds or Yellows, or Tokico Illuminas (I much prefer Koni.) The only other real option is custom-valved Bilsteins, but you'd need to know what you want done to them... and they wouldn't be cheap.

No other option will hold up to "slammed". Not ANYTHING made by KYB, not Tokico HP/Blues, not Koni STR.T (they're acceptable for a mild drop, such as most "sport" springs that drop less than 2"), and certainly nothing cheaper. No Gabriel, no Monroe...

ive tried many sey-ups on many cars and the one thing that holds true is no single set-up is the best for more than one car. my last was an '87 supra turbo with b&g springs and agx shocks, sounds effective but is sucked lol. im going to be totally rediculous with my wheel/tire/suspention this time around tho since, and i mean no offense to these cars but they are a dime a dozen and if i break stuff the replacement is drastically cheaper than a subaru or supra would be. thats a lot of good info, i agree about monroe for sure. i'll have to do my research and ill post pics when theres actually something to look at lol.

illumina's may be my best bet, i considered blues but ive never ran them with cosmetic springs, only h&r or eibach. the lower offset i want will require very minimal wheel travel tho i may fab sum custom tophats for ride comfort. idk yet tho, its my 1st accord that doesnt have a carb on it lol.

Koni's products really are superior to Tokico, but the Illumina will hold up. Blues/HPs are stock replacement, good for no more than 1" and 15% stiffer spring rate... and the ONLY source for a spring like that is from Tokico themselves.
KYB AGX are also not made for more than 1.5" or more than 15%... I had them paired with H&R Sport springs, a mild drop... and they were crap. I even popped one on a pothole... a small pothole. Going to Koni Yellows was like night and day.

Get stuff that is properly matched. Otherwise, it won't last, and it won't be safe! MANY people on here will say "oh i had ebay sleeves on gr2s slammed to the ground and it was fine"... because they don't know what they're talking about.

`cause they think riding around all day on bump stops is a tight suspension setup..lol

lol, yeah i had a da when i was 17 slammed on ebay sleeves, 14" steelies with bald 165/50's and stock struts. i thought it was the shit lol. sometimes its easy just be naive but when i caught the trans on a rock in the road it blew the speedo sensor off the transmission and i lost every damn gear. I have heard good things about koni adjustables but ive never had experience with them. the price is close enough to illuminas for a full set. my girlfriend will be driving the car a lot too, she likes flush fitment and low offsets (shes a vw girl). those diamond racing wheels are super cheap (i.e., replaceable lol). my buddy had some on a skyline and they looked pretty nice.

Yea you can't go safely slammed on a budget. Go Koni's and you'll never regret it. Plus it comes with a warranty

if you're going to slam your car, chances are you're not going to utilize the amount of adjustability that konis will give you. you're better off saving a bit and buy form function coilovers or something along those lines.

true but im just not willing to put expensive coilovers on a honda lol, even basic ones just seem kinda overkill. ill spend the cash for a decent setup tho, as im going low offset
