ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Lol, why would you google that? Its not like airbags are hidden, just look in the car, you should know if it had airbags or not.

Yeah seriously. Just use your seatbelt if you're that worried about safety.

OP, do you live around the washington DC area?

i saw a car yesterday where the owner was claiming it to be a rare special edition when it was clearly not anything special.

You should always have your seatbelt on regardless if you have airbags or not.

With no seatbelt, an airbag will probably snap your neck, if the windshield didn't already kill you.

I actually know a couple people that have been injured by early Honda airbags. One girl won a lawsuit against them for burns suffered.
Airbags are questionable in their effectiveness, especially earlier ones. They were mainly installed in vehicles to meet increased safety demands of various countries... they weren't necessarily THAT effective. Today's airbags may be much better, but in the CB... I'd rather trust the seat belt alone, combined with safe suspension, brakes, tires, and careful driving!

If i wasn't wearing a seatbelt i'd still rather hit an airbag than the steering wheel.

If you weren't wearing a seatbelt, you wouldn't hit the airbag, you'd go over it as it expanded, shoving you up into the windshield and roof. Probably breaking your neck.

                  Not necessarily

US airbags open harder and faster than other countries specifically to protect people not wearing a seatbelt.

Thats going a bit too far. I'm sure there have been plenty of accidents (in CB's) with the driver not wearing a seatbelt and the airbag deployed. I'm sure it did the job it was designed to do. Even the early model airbags systems are properly designed, there is no way they would have allowed a faulty airbag system to continually be used. Something built into a vehicle STRICLY for safety (and possible saving your life) is something they're not going to play around with.

Thats not to say airbags haven't injured plenty of people. But killing them? Come on. Thats far and few in between.

I'm sure it says in the documentation that the airbag is intended for use WITH the seatbelt. Safety devices used improperly can be plenty dangerous.

                      Florida knows what's up...
The name Supplemental Restraint System implies that air bags are supplemental to the primary restraint system -- lap and shoulder belts. While this is true, the full extent of the air bag/safety belt relationship is far more complex. For the SRS to function as designed (upon sufficient contact, the bag explodes at speeds up to 200 MPH for 12 to 18 inches and begins deflating just as the vehicle occupant contacts the fully deployed bag), the vehicle occupant in front of the bag must be in the proper position. This position can only be maintained during crash dynamics if the occupant is properly restrained by the vehicles’ lap and shoulder belts. Occupants not properly restrained can be hit with the full 200 MPH force of an exploding air bag which can easily break bones, including the neck, solely with that force or by slamming the occupant against an object such as the rear-view mirror. SAFETY BELTS MUST BE USED WITH AIR BAGS!

I've been in a wreck, no seat belt and hit the airbag. I know I hit the airbag because I had a broke nose and there was blood on the airbag. My brother was driving and I was in the passenger seat. He hydroplaned and we went into the ditch and hit a concrete driveway running about 80. It split it 3 month old Camry almost in half and pushed the motor up into the floor
