Do projector Shrouds have to stay their chrome color to be effective or can they be painted a flat black color and still retain their effect.

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

They do. So having them painted a solid color is beneficial if you desire that effect.
I ordered the mini-graphite shrouds which are translucent, but that's fine, i don't mind if the reflector bowl gets lit up somewhat from whatever stray light can escape the graphite. Might look cool. Dunno yet. Also debating on whether or not to paint the reflector bowl to reduce said escaping light.

I have angel eyes before the centric rings around the mini H1's then the shrouds over everything. i like the look of an illuminated low-beam reflector bowl with a projector in the center..plus the CCFL's will look sick all lit up and will help accentuate the projector lens. I just need to find some frigin' one-piecers!
And thanks, but those are the high beams that are tinted yellow. I used a couple extra coats to make it a deeper, slightly darker shade.

what projector are you using? What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.
You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!
Retro!

I love nooBs...They make me look good

That'll look sweet.
if you don't have room under the shroud, you could have individual LEDs or a strip of them around the outer edge of the shroud. Or modify the shroud to allow for install underneath.
I have mine mocked up in a dummy housing for practice/trouble shooting ideas.
Here you can see the angel eye under the graphite shroud..
I may paint some but not all of the reflector bowl, depending on how these look lit up.
I may even black out a portion of the bowl and paint the rest of the reflective area with a metallic/anodized shade of blue. Subtle enough to notice the blue aura but so much as to attract an officers attention..Last edited by islandhopper; 01-29-2012, 01:50 AM.

dang bro i like how small and subtle your shroud is.
im using the Morimoto D2S projectors with a Raptor 55w 5k
and no there is a few guys with the LED's in theirs. my main problem is the black ring
that goes inside the shroud. It kills any space that i have.
The only way i would be able to do it is to super glue the black ring and then trim it to make space for the LED's

If you like, i can take a few pics showing how mine go together and the space between the different components. It's all kinda sandwiched together and fits real snug.Last edited by islandhopper; 01-29-2012, 03:16 PM.

I have a gatling shroud I think.... you could put leds inside but the Angeles wont fit inside and still go over the projector. I broke one of my angels trying LOL..... I just mounted mine to the outside of the shroud with fishing wire.... here's a pic.....but I don't have the d2s one I got the mini h1 4.1 projector

Yeah that's a mini-gatling. And putting the CCFL behind that shroud still wouldn't work cuz its a solid color/chrome and not translucent, unless you drill or cut away some of it... The angel eyes are supposed to mount outside that particular shroud so they can be seen.
Some people even go so far as to use 2 CCFL rings per shroud. One that fits the diameter of the prejector lens and another one about 10-20mm larger in diameter around the first one. it looks sick as fuck...i'll look for the reference pic that im thinking about...

kinda like this:
there are better examples, but you get the idea...Last edited by islandhopper; 01-29-2012, 03:34 PM.
