ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Haven't used the VHT stuff yet, but I always use Duplicolor Metalcast red when doing tail lights. Pretty much the exact same stuff the VHT paint is.

I've seen people use the black VHT, and it looked awesome. Just curious as if its worth it or not as the red one is a new product ( thats what the guy at the shop told me )

My all clear tail lights are DIY'd with VHT Red Nite shade. Did it because i liked the Red/Clear look and Advance had it on sale. Been like that for a couple years now, i need to redo them since one side is a little faded compared to the other side.

            heres a picture.

I've used the black VHT and I polished it and it shined brilliantly!

I've wondered about how the red would look.. I've been meaning to get a can and try it out. I'm sure you can get the same results.

Well this is what all red looks like with Duplicolor Metalcast. VHT will look no different. I sprayed the whole lens, not just the amber section.

So I'm looking at this: http://www.duplicolor.com/products/metalCast/

You've used VHT before correct? Would you say they're on about the same level of transparency? For some reason I just feel like the Duplicolor would be a little less transparent?

Yes that's the Metalcast I use. I have not used red VHT. I have used VHT Niteshades, but since I hate blacked out lights, I don't use it anymore, and that stuff is an absolute pain in the ass to spray without running or getting fish eyes.

I've used VHT engine and brake caliper paints in the past. I usually use Duplicolor products when painting.

Duplicolor seems to be more of a trusted brand for paint from what i have seen so far. For the transparency it looks like 5spd92's are more "shinier" maybe because they are already red/clear ?

His started all clear I believe. The shine is in how well you prep and buff. Not the paint usually..

Yea mine are a more glossy, cause i buffed them out a bit. the outer ones look lighter from all the heat put off by the bulbs when stepping on the brake. But i wouldn't worry about fading every week, it took a few years for them to get to that point.

VHT, Duplicolor Metalcast, Krylon glass paint... Set them all side by side any you probably won't see any difference. Its all the same, they all are transparent paints and give the same ass results. You'll be fine with any of those products.

Exactly. It's not comparing apples to oranges. Heck, you can even use transparent candy model paint or stained glass paint and get the same effect.

Just easier with the VHT and Duplicolor products because you can spray them on.
