ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

I just got a pair Philips HIR2 9012 Standard Halogen bulbs, and I'm impressed. The light is much brighter than the 9006 i had before. I can see farther and wider, too. I read nothing but glowing reviews of this latest 3rd generation.

        I got them on Amazon:

Its about the same price as SilverStars, and these are plug and play....no retrofitting required. I don't have to figure out if i need a new harness, or projectors, or anything. As much as I love to channel my inner mechanic, sometimes keeping it simple is nice. Plus it appears that I could only got low end HID, where I can get a high end halogen HIR...from a company I can complain to in person out in Marietta.

HIDs in stock housings will blind oncoming traffic. Assholes like me will swerve at idiot ricers with blinding HIDs. Don't do it. Do a projector retrofit, or stick to halogen bulbs. Don't put HIDs in your stock housings.

And when installing an HID kit, use an auxiliary harness, so you don't burn out your stock wiring. HIDs don't draw much power once they're warmed up, but they can draw up to twice the amount of power that halogen bulbs draw when they're warming up (which is a HUGE strain on the stock wiring.)

Second time i've read this "burn out the stock wiring" thing. Never heard of or seen it in person.

Methinks its just some hearsay from people around the internet.

It might be unlikely that it will happen, but if you pay $15 for a harness you can save yourself if something does happen.

It's like wearing a helmet while biking, most of the time nothing will happen to you, but if you get knocked off your bike or something like that and you fall on your head, you could die. It happened me, luckily I was wearing my helmet at the time, some stupid driver wasn't paying attention to me while I was crossing the road, it was a red light for her, but it was the crossing time for pedestrians and she decided to go for a left turn and knocked me off my bike pretty hard, landed straight to my head, my helmet broke but thank god I'm still alive.
