ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    removing carpet?

i want to remove my carpet and pressure wash it (there is way too much dirt to be vacuumed), but im scared i wont be able to put it back in or know exactly take the carpet out for that matter.

It's a pain in the ass, and totally not worth pulling it just to pressure wash it IMO.

I'm a detailer at a dealer, and I get some nasty carpets to deal with. Just use some good cleaner like Spray Nine and a good bristled brush. Take your seats out to make it easier.

lol ya it seemed like a lot of stuff i'd have to remove, which was why i was worried about putting it all back together

i have this Blue Magic, which worked for little stains on the seats and the door panels, but not so much for heavy stains on the carpet. i'll look in to that Spray Nine

Honestly, it's not all that difficult. I've taken the carpet out of the car before to have it steam cleaned and I'm glad I took it out. There aren't really any "hidden" pieces you can snag on so if you have an hour or two and want clean carpets just pop it out.

IIRC these are the pieces you have to take out for a sedan:
Front seats (4 14mm per seat)
Front seat belts (1 14mm per belt)
Rear seat bottom (1 bolt, 12 or 14mm)
        Door sills (clips)
        Kick panels (clips)
        Lower B pillar finisher (clips)
        Dead pedal (2 10mm)
Trunk/gas release handles and cover (1 phillips #2 size)
Center console (4 phillips #2 size)

That should be everything. You would definitely benefit from a "clip tool" or a "panel popper" but it isn't necessary. Just put a reasonable amount of force into the panels held in with clips and they should pop out.

Ultimately it's up to you. How much effort you want to put in and what result you are looking for is a fine balance. The best mid point between taking out the carpet and leaving it in is taking at least the front seats out IMO.

It may catch behind the dash, but a quick slit in the carpet will get it out easily and won't affect fitment at all when it goes back in

Yeah, to pull the carpet out, you need to cut it behind the dash. Obviously from the factory, the carpet is laid in before the dash is installed.

To remove your carpet without cutting would require you to remove the dash. It's a pain to cut, but if you can slit it with a knife or something, it'll make life easier.

Theres only so much cleaning you can do with the carpet in the car, otherwise if you yank it out, I would recommend you fill a bathtub up with water, add some Tide powder (it should say "with enzymes" on it) and some vinegar. Between these two things, I've removed the most stubborn stains and smells from fabric, it works SOOO well as a spot cleaner, that afterwords the area around it looks dirty. My wife and I have cats, and this is what I use to remove the stain and smell of their urine from EVERYTHING before they were neutered/spayed. Then use a plastic bristle scrubbing brush, and scrub, scrub, scrub; and it should come out good as new (minus wear to the pile).

If you take off the carpet why not just replace it? Sorry guys new member here I just bought my 1st CB7 on 12/31/11. It's 93 coupe and it needs some work but I always wanted one, but anyways I was thinking about replacing the carpet w/ a new one if possible (it not to expensive)

Before I'd recommend a replacement to anyone I'd have to see one that was good quality. The one I've had experience with was horrible. The fitment sucked, it had waves in it and the texture was nothing like OEM. If you need a new carpet just find the best one you can at a junkyard.

Use blue coral it works great. Just cleaned my carpet last week and compared to what it looked before the was a big difference. My car interior is beige and the carpet was black cuz of so many oil stains and spills. It's prett easy to clean took me less than an hour

High level detailer from another board i frequent says he only uses a woolite/water mix and a stiff brush for deep cleaning interior fabrics and a slightly softer brush for leather.

3 parts water to 1 part woolite.

It was back in 2005 so your guess is as good as mine. I know it was on eBay and their picture made the carpet appear almost OEM. I got it because I wanted black carpet. To make matters worse, I gave up trying to form it to the floor and dropped the car and carpet off at an upholstery shop. They just glued it to the floor. I was SOOOO pissed.

At work I use Ducan Snappy Clean on carpets, with a medium bristled brush to rub out any soiled areas. You'd be surprised at some of the disgusting carpets I have been able to restore to almost new.
