ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Side Moldings

My side moldings on my car is fading.

I was curious if anyone has painted their moldings with the Krylon bbq & stove paint? I used it on my grill, but I am really nervous to use on my moldings. If it is all good to use I think I will be painting my sideskirts, and lip as well. Thanks

Either do it the right way, or just get some Mothers Back-to-Black.

    2001 Honda CR-V SE RT4WD
    2005 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71

Holy moly! lol I am so glad you gave me the tip. I do not want to ruin my car in any way! Does that Mothers back to black stuff work well, or should I just repaint them? Thanks a lot JoshM!

I don't have a great picture, but my moldings, mirrors, and bumpers were as bad as yours.

This is with two applications of Mothers:

Back to Black is freakin amazing. It works so good, it probably would have even worked on Michael Jackson.

            ....too soon?

Is the Mothers stuff a petroleum based product? If so, it will eventually do more damage than good.

I had my moldings painted when I had my car repainted (they just left em on and painted over em... Maaco...) It's holding up just fine.

If you choose to paint them, you'll want to remove them, rather than trying to paint them on the car. Chances are good that you'll break a few clips, so you'd be wise to do one of two things: 1) buy new clips from Honda, or 2) go to a junkyard and get replacements... and also practice removing them at the same time.

Bumper renew is pretty awesome too. It will make your black bumper and molding brand new again... but you will have to re-apply every month.

I used some Dupi-color bumper coating on mine. I just did a good sand with 320, then wet sand with 600 to smooth it out. Used the adhesion promoter and then the bumper coating. I think it turned out alright but i took off all of my trim because mine was really bad.

                      I use this:

Does a better job than the Mother's. I went through both product and im sticking with Meguiar's.

And for your car being a coupe, just take off that rear trim, and do TypeG's plastic polishing on it and call it a done deal, no residue to attract dust like the Mother's and Meguiar's Trim stuff.
