Stock 6 spoke polishing - severely damaged?

Hey all, I've just picked up my first CB7 and the rims that came with it have seen better days. I did a search and I've seen these polished up before, but what I'm wondering is, if the metallic layer Honda applied to the spoke of the rims is torn up and mostly missing, can the rims still be sanded down and polished? I'm not sure if these rims are alloy or pure aluminum, as I know pure aluminum can be polished, but I'm not sure about these. Ideas?

Strip the clear off of them, sand them down and polish them up. Peeps do that all the time on here, I've seen some that looked a lot worse than yours come out like mirrors. Just search "polishing rims" or something like that. There are a bunch of old threads on this subject.

You're trippin. I didn't say "search, noob". I told him to search and what to search for. Its not anyone's job to hold your hand through the searching procedure. If u want to provide a link then good for u, but he's a big boy he can handle it himself.

if u ever decide to paint in the long run

the closet paint i found to oem spec for these honda alloys was Rustoleum 7725 or 7715

i used them and my wheels look pretty neat.

Thanks for the info guys, plus I did search, for about 3 days before posting my question. I just wasn't sure, because these rims already have no clear-coat and even the metallic layer has peeled off almost fully. Just checking to see if the actual rim (not the metallic layer) would shine up. I'm planning on painting the inside of the spokes gloss black and polishing the lip and center spokes up. I think it'll look good, plus it'll be unique.

they arent bad at all. the clear is just chipping and the exposed aluminum is tarnished. i wouuld say maybe a good solid hour per rim to get them to average condition
